Border River
''Border River'' is a 1954 American Western film directed by George Sherman and starring Joel McCrea, Yvonne De Carlo and Pedro Armendáriz. Plot During the US Civil War, Clete Mattson arrives in Zona Libre, a small territory across the river from the United States. Ruled by ruthless General Calleja, it offers sanctuary to outlaws. Mattson wants to buy guns for the Confederacy, using gold stolen from the Union. George Sherman
George Sherman (July 14, 1908 – March 15, 1991) was an American film director and producer of low-budget Western films. One obituary said his "credits rival in number those of anyone in the entertainment industry." Biography George Sherman was born in New York City on July 14, 1908. At age 14 he sailed aboard the SS ''Mongolia'' to Los Angeles, California, where he found work in the mail room at Warner Bros. studios via a film editor friend. Sherman was credited for working on props on '' Gentlemen Prefer Blondes'' (1928). Ivan Triesault (born Johann Constantin Treisalt; in Reval (now Tallinn) – January 3, 1980 in Los Angeles) was an Estonian-American actor. His parents were from the island of Hiiumaa. Martín Garralaga (10 November 1894 – 12 June 1981) was a Spanish actor who worked in Hollywood from the 1930s through the 1960s. He was married to opera singer and actress Rosa Rey. Biography Garralaga first came to the United States when he sailed from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to San Juan, Puerto Rico, on the steamship ''Catherine'' in April 1924. He acted in more than two hundred roles in film and television and is probably best known for his portrayal of "Pancho" in the early Cisco Kid films.
