Bon Voyage (2016 Film)
''Bon Voyage'' is a Swiss-German short film written and directed by Marc Raymond Wilkins. ''Bon Voyage'' was shortlisted with ten other short-film from 137 entries submitted to the 89th Academy Awards in Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film category. The final five nominations are scheduled to be announced on January 24, 2016. Plot Jonas and Silvia are enjoying a wonderful sailing holiday in the Mediterranean sea. But while sailing through the night far away from land, they discover an overloaded refugee boat which is close to sinking. They are shocked but too afraid to help. They call the coast guards but lose the boat out of sight into the darkness of the night. In the early morning, they find themselves drifting through an ocean of dead bodies. The refugee boat has sunk. Jonas and Silvia manage to pull a few Syrian survivors out of the cold water. Jay Abdo ( ar, جهاد عبدو; born Jihad Abdo or Jihad Abdou; October 21, 1962) is a Syrian actor. He has been acting since 1988, and most recently starred in '' Queen of the Desert'' and ''A Hologram for the King''. Early life Abdo was born in Damascus. He traveled to Cluj-Napoca, Romania, to study civil engineering and began acting there. After his success on the stage, he returned to Damascus to study acting at the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts. The Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film is an award presented at the annual Academy Awards ceremony. The award has existed, under various names, since 1957. From 1936 until 1956 there were two separate awards, "Best Short Subject, One-reel" and "Best Short Subject, Two-reel", referring to the running time of the short: a standard Reel#Motion picture terminology, reel of film is 1000 feet, or about 11 minutes of run time. A third category "Best Short Subject, color" was used only for 1936 and 1937.
