American Skier
American Skier boats (not to be confused with Correct Crafts American Skier) was a tournament boat company founded by Ken Elkind. Elkind of North Miami Beach, Florida, United States, in 1975. Mr. Elkind, after retiring from the offshore racing circuits, became interested in the water skiing business. In the early 1980s American Skier became one of the first tournament boat companies to be approved for competition by the American Water Ski Association. The first 18' Skiers came out as 1976 models from a shop in Opa Locka Florida. In the early 1990s WESMAR took over ownership. Front Street Shipyard
Front Street Shipyard is a custom boat builder, boat yard, marina, and service yard in Belfast, Maine, USA. The yard is located along the waterfront in Penobscot Bay. The business was established in 2011. One year later, the ownership group also purchased the neighboring business, Belfast Boat Yard. In 2014, Front Street Shipyard began leasing a building in Bucksport, Maine, where production boats are built. Front Street Shipyard is situated on a six-acre property with 1,500 feet of waterfront. The yard has 72,555 square feet of space for yacht storage and 10,320 square feet of shop space for boat building and yacht refits. The buildings on site are long enough and tall enough to accommodate yachts up to 155 feet long. Pearson Yachts
Pearson Yachts was a sailboat manufacturer founded by Everett Pearson and Clinton Pearson in 1956. One of the first fiberglass sailboat manufacturers, they grew rapidly during the 60s and 70s, while also developing and designing new boats. However, the company changed ownership throughout the 1980s, after which the company filed for bankruptcy, and was eventually sold to Grumman Allied Industries in 1991. The rights to the name are now held by the Pearson Marine Group. History Founding In 1955, cousins Clinton and Everett Pearson began building fiberglass dinghies in their garage on County Street in Seekonk, Massachusetts. The fiberglass material and their methods of construction was brand new and untested. However, Tom Potter from American Boat Building approached the Pearsons with a project to build an auxiliary sailboat that would sell for under $10,000. Ocean Alexander
Ocean Alexander is a Taiwanese yacht manufacturer with shipyards in Taiwan and the United States. In 2021 it was the 4th largest yacht builder in the world by feet of yacht produced. History Ocean Alexander was founded by Alex Chueh in 1977. The company has had a long relationship with American boat designer Ed Monk, jr son of the legendary Ed Monk, sr. The current President of Ocean Alexander is Alex’s son John Chueh. Ocean Alexander closed their Chinese yard in 2013. In 2018 70% of yachts produced by Ocean Alexander were for American customers. Nautique is an American boat manufacturer that produces boats primarily for waterskiing, wakeboarding and wakesurfing. With models in the Super Air Nautique and Ski Nautique lines, they are widely considered the gold standard in the inboard towboat market. Owned by parent company, Correct Craft, Nautique is a member of the oldest family-owned and operated boat manufacturer in the world. Maxum
Maxum was a subsidiary of the Brunswick Boat Group, a division of the Brunswick Corporation, which manufactured recreational boats. One manufacturing plant was in Pipestone, Minnesota. This facility was established in the 1970s with 300 plus employees and produced the Maxum runabouts. MasterCraft Boats
The MasterCraft Boat Company is an American manufacturer of luxury high-performance boats. The company was founded in 1968 in Maryville, Tennessee, and is currently headquartered in Vonore, Tennessee. MasterCraft boats are used in waterskiing, wakeboarding and wakesurfing, though the company has also produced several boats that are not focused on water sports, such as the NauticStar line of fishing boats. History MasterCraft's founder Rob Shirley was a young waterskiing instructor who opened a waterskiing school in Florida 1965. In 1968, with the help of a few fellow waterskiers, he modified a Ski Nautique boat manufactured by Correct Craft. The boat was completed in August, and debuted at the U.S. Nationals in Canton, Ohio. In that same year Rob had to close the school and moved to his wife's parent's farm in Maryville, Tennessee. Founded in 1977, Kadey-Krogen Yachts is a manufacturer of long-range capable, recreational trawler yachts in the U.S. Their vessels are closely linked in naval design to the historic fishing trawlers of the North Sea and have the capability to cross any ocean. Kadey-Krogen Yachts is a semi-custom builder and manufactures 10-15 yachts per year. Six models are currently offered, ranging in size from with new models on the drawing board. Jeanneau
Jeanneau is a French boatyard in Les Herbiers, in the Vendée département, which has produced yachts since 1957. It was founded by Henri Jeanneau, a hardware store owner, who began by producing power boats. Jeanneau specializes in monohulls, but it created a specialist multihull line, Lagoon catamarans. Jeanneau (and Lagoon) became part of Groupe Beneteau in 1995. History Henri Jeanneau's first boats in 1957 were wooden outboard motor-powered dinghy designs. Jade Yachts is a Taiwanese yacht manufacturer headquartered in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History Jade Yachts was founded in 2004 as a subsidiary of Jong Shyn Shipbuilding Company specializing in steel and aluminum yachts.
