BlackHawk (band)
Blackhawk (stylized as BlackHawk) is an American country music group founded in 1992 by Henry Paul (lead vocals, mandolin, acoustic guitar), Van Stephenson (background vocals, electric guitar), and Dave Robbins (background vocals, keyboards). Prior to the group's formation, Paul had been a member of the Southern rock band Outlaws, while Stephenson was a solo rock artist. In 1993, Blackhawk was signed to a record deal with Arista Nashville. Their debut single, "Goodbye Says It All", was released that year, peaking at No. 11 on the '' Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts, and their first album (1994's ''Blackhawk'') was certified 2× Multi-Platinum by the RIAA. Henry Paul (musician)
Henry Paul (born August 25, 1949) is an American southern rock and country singer/songwriter who was an original recording member of the Southern rock band Outlaws. He left to form the Henry Paul Band but then returned to the Outlaws. He also is a founding member of the country band Blackhawk. Biography Early life Henry was born in Kingston, New York, and lived on a farm in nearby Hurley, but when his father and mother divorced, Henry, his sisters Anselma and Helen, and his mother moved to Temple Terrace, a suburb of Tampa, Florida, as a young boy. At the age of 17, he played his first music gigs at High School folk festivals and playing at the 18th String Coffee House and Music Emporium in Tampa, and by 1969, he had moved back north to Greenwich Village, New York, to pursue a career in music. Boy Howdy was an American country music band founded in 1990 in Los Angeles, California. Its members were Jeffrey Steele (lead vocals, bass guitar), Hugh Wright (drums), and brothers Cary Park (guitar, mandolin, vocals) and Larry Park (guitar, fiddle, vocals). Between 1992 and 1995, the band recorded two albums (1992's '' Welcome to Howdywood'' and 1995's '' Born That Way'') and an extended play (1994's '' She'd Give Anything''), all on the Curb Records label. The Academy of Country Music Awards, also known as the ACM Awards, were first held in 1966, honoring the industry's accomplishments during the previous year. It was the first country music awards program held by a major organization. The academy's signature "hat" trophy was first created in 1968. The awards were first televised in 1972 on ABC. In 1979, the academy joined with Dick Clark Productions to produce the show. Dick Clark and Al Schwartz served as producers while Gene Weed served as director. It was also their only album on the Columbia Records label, and the first recorded after the death of former member Van Stephenson. ''The Sky's the Limit'' is the fourth studio album released by American country music band BlackHawk. Their final studio album for Arista Nashville, it features the singles "There You Have It" and "Your Own Little Corner of My Heart", which respectively reached #4 and #27 on the Hot Country Songs charts. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. Phillip George Vassar Jr. (born May 28, 1962) is an American country music artist. Vassar made his debut on the country music scene in the late 1990s, co-writing singles for several country artists, including Tim McGraw ("For a Little While", " My Next Thirty Years"), Jo Dee Messina (" Bye, Bye", " I'm Alright"), Collin Raye ("Little Red Rodeo"), and Alan Jackson ("Right on the Money"). ''Love & Gravity'' is the third studio album released by American country music group Blackhawk. It features the singles "Hole in My Heart" and "Postmarked Birmingham", which peaked at #31 and #37, respectively, on the '' Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts in 1997. All of the songs center around the theme of loneliness and all but one track concern relationships. The first nine songs are written from a first person perspective, but the last two, including the track " Lonely Boy" a cover of the 1977 pop standard by Andrew Gold, are written from the third person perspective.
