Bishops Castle Town Football Club is a football club based in Bishop's Castle, Shropshire, England. The club currently play in the Central Wales League Northern Division, which is at the fourth tier of the Welsh football league system. History The club was formed in 1880. They played in various leagues including the South Shropshire League and the West Shropshire Alliance. They joined the Montgomeryshire Amateur League in Division Two for the 1984–85 season and then were promoted to Division One during their 25-year period in the league. They then left the Welsh football system to join the Mercian League to try and progress within the Shropshire football pyramid. After problems travelling to matches, the club sought to rejoin the Montgomeryshire Football League in 2016. Bishop's Castle
Bishop's Castle is a market town in the south west of Shropshire, England. According to the 2011 Census it had a population of 1,893. Bishop's Castle is east of the Wales-England border, about north-west of Ludlow and about south-west of Shrewsbury. To the south is Clun and to the east is Church Stretton. The town is within an agricultural area and has also become known for its alternative community including artists, musicians, writers and craftspeople. The surrounding area is hillwalking country and Bishop's Castle is a "Walkers are Welcome Town", gaining the award in 2008. The long distance footpath the Shropshire Way runs through the town and Offa's Dyke is only a few miles to the west.
