Bill Godley
William Godley (10 April 1880 – 1960) was an English association football, footballer who played in the Football League for Middlesbrough F.C., Middlesbrough and Stoke City F.C., Stoke. Career Godley was born in Durham, England, Durham and played for South Bank F.C., South Bank before joining Middlesbrough F.C., Middlesbrough in 1902. He played twice for "Boro" before joining Stoke City F.C., Stoke where he played three times in 1904–05 Stoke F.C. season, 1904–05 scoring once against Grimsby Town F.C., Grimsby Town in the FA Cup. He then went on to play for Plymouth Argyle F.C., Plymouth Argyle, Reading F.C., Reading, Gillingham F.C., New Brompton and Darlington F.C., Darlington. Durham ( , locally ), is a cathedral city and civil parish on the River Wear, County Durham, England. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 84 clubs which are divided into four divisions. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981.
