Don Drysdale
Donald Scott Drysdale (July 23, 1936 – July 3, 1993) was an American professional baseball player and television sports commentator. A right-handed pitcher for the Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers for his entire career in Major League Baseball, Drysdale was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984. Drysdale won the Cy Young Award and in pitched a record six consecutive shutouts and consecutive scoreless innings. One of the most dominant pitchers of the late 1950s to mid 1960s, Drysdale stood tall and was not afraid to throw pitches near batters to keep them off balance. After his playing career, he became a radio/television broadcaster. Big D Jamboree
''Big D Jamboree'' was a radio program broadcast by KRLD-AM in Dallas, Texas. The show consisted of appearances by famous country musicians, and sketch comedy and jokes. It was also carried by KRLD-TV during the 1950s. History ''Big D Jamboree'' began in 1947 as ''The Lone Star Barn Dance'', but was renamed October 16, 1948. It was held in the Dallas Sportatorium. The show was initially produced by Al Turner and Ed McLemore, and then later by Johnny Hicks and Johnny Harper. The number of musicians who performed regularly rose from 20 to 50 by 1953. Around 1956, the CBS Radio Network began carrying the ''Big D Jamboree'' nationally. A number of later country stars appeared on the program, including Jimmy Lee Fautheree, Webb Pierce, Hank Locklin, Gene O'Quin and Billy Walker (who wore a mask and was billed as the Traveling Texan). National Supermarkets
National Supermarkets was a grocery chain in both the St. Louis, Missouri, and New Orleans, Louisiana, areas of the United States. Both firms were owned by Loblaw Companies of Canada, but in June 1995, they were sold by Loblaw to Schnucks Markets. Immediately after that, per the FTC, Schnucks sold the National New Orleans division to Schwegmann Brothers Giant Supermarkets of Metairie, Louisiana, which later sold them to Great A&P, which finally sold them to Rouse Markets in 2007. National itself had cemented the number two spot in St. Louis by acquiring several former Kroger locations and the Kroger distribution center in the market when the latter exited St. Louis in 1986. Rowdy (Dallas Cowboys)
Rowdy is the official mascot of the National Football League's Dallas Cowboys. Development and early years Rowdy was originally developed by NFL Properties in the early 1990s as a cowboy/football player character named "Big D" who was part of the Team NFL Heroes league-wide mascot program. Merchandise showing an early version of Rowdy with his name listed as Big D was marketed to children and teenagers during the 1994 and 1995 NFL seasons. Big D is a British brand of peanuts and other snack foods primarily sold in pubs. It was introduced in 1967. The brand includes 50g packets of nuts, both carded (displayed on a card) and tumble (sold loose). They are distributed within the licensed and retail trade in the UK, and also in Ireland under an agreement with the Irish snack food manufacturer Tayto. The brand's peanut varieties include salted, dry roasted, bird's eye chili and honey roasted. The brand also includes salted cashews (sold in 30g bags) and smoked almonds (40g bags). The Big D and Bubba Show is a nationally syndicated radio show airing six days a week on approximately 80 country music FM radio stations. The show is syndicated by Compass Media Networks. WDRC-FM (102.9 FM) is a radio station with a classic rock format licensed to Hartford, Connecticut. The station began broadcasting in 1959 and was the first commercial FM station in the Hartford radio market.
