Berliner Rugby Club
The Berliner Rugby Club is a German rugby union club from Berlin, currently playing in the Rugby-Bundesliga. History The club was formed in 1926. While very successful in its youth department, it has not managed similar achievements on the senior level. The club has yet to win a national championship, having appeared in the 1989 German rugby union championship final, where it lost 6-20 to TSV Victoria Linden. Two lost Cup finals also stand to its name. In the 2007-08 Rugby-Bundesliga season, the club finished in fourth place, its best result in the league since adoption of the single-division format in 2001. The 2008-09 season started not as successful with the team sitting in seventh place, just above the relegation zone but good results in the second half of the season saw it finish in fourth place and qualify for the finals. German Rugby Federation
The German Rugby Federation (german: Deutscher Rugby-Verband or ''DRV'') is the governing body for rugby union in Germany. It organizes Germany national rugby union team, the German national team and the three league divisions: the Rugby-Bundesliga, the 2nd Rugby-Bundesliga and the Rugby-Regionalliga. It was founded on November 4, 1900, in Kassel, and is the oldest national rugby union in ''continental'' Europe. After the Second World War, the DRV was restored on May 14, 1950. Rugby-Bundesliga 2006-07
The Rugby-Bundesliga is the highest level of the league system for rugby union in Germany, organised by the German Rugby Federation. The league is predominantly amateur, with only one club in the league being officially a professional outfit, the Heidelberger RK. From 2012 to 2015 the Bundesliga was expanded from ten to 24 and the league divided into four regional divisions of six teams each. Below the Bundesliga the 2. Bundesliga was organised in a similar fashion. From 2015 onwards the league returned to sixteen clubs. Franck Moutsinga
Franck Moutsinga (born 12 August 1985) is a German international rugby union player, playing for the Berliner RC in the Rugby-Bundesliga and the German national rugby union team. Biography Moutsinga started playing rugby for the Berliner Rugby Club when he was five years old, in 1990. He is currently playing for the Berliner Rugby Club, together with Gerrit van Look and Colin Grzanna, another two players of the German national team. Before playing in the German 1st XV and German Sevens Side, Moutsinga played two Under 19 World Championships in Italy (2002) and France (2003). Playing for Berlin for the most part of his career, Moutsinga spent the 2005/06 season with the Racing Club Strasbourg in France (2nd Amateur League) before returning to Berlin again. Gerrit Van Look
Gerrit van Look (born 13 August 1985) is a retired German international rugby union player, having last played for the Berliner RC in the Rugby-Bundesliga and the German national rugby union team. He was also, together with Colin Grzanna, for a time the coach of the Berliner RC. Colin Grzanna is a German international rugby union player, playing for the Berliner RC in the Rugby-Bundesliga and the German national rugby union team. He is captain and player-coach of his club team and has also captained the German team at times. Biography Colin Grzanna started playing rugby when he was five years old, in 1984, playing with his South African cousins. He is currently playing for Berliner Rugby Club, where he also covers a coaching role, together with Gerrit van Look, another player of the German national team. Although playing for Berlin for the most part of his career, Grzanna spent the 2000 season with the Northwood Crusaders in Durban, South Africa before returning to Berlin again. The Rugby Regionalliga is the third-highest level of Germany's Rugby union league system, organised by the German Rugby Federation. It is set below the 2nd Rugby-Bundesliga and is organised in eight regional divisions.
