Berit Aunli
Berit Kristine Aunli, née Kvello, (born 9 June 1956) is a Norwegian former cross-country skier. She won her first international championship medal as a member of the Norwegian team that won the bronze medal at the 4 × 5 km relay at the 1980 Winter Olympics. Her real international breakthrough came at the 1982 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships when she won gold medals at the 5 km, 10 km and 4 × 5 km relay races, and a silver medal at the 20 km classical. She became the first winner of an official Cross-Country World Cup after her overall victory in the 1981–82 FIS Cross-Country World Cup. At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, she won two medals with a gold in the 4 × 5 km relay and a silver in 5 km. Stjørdal () or is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Stjørdalen region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Stjørdal, also called Stjørdalshalsen. Some of the villages in the municipality include Elvran, Flornes, Hegra, Hell, Kvithammer, Prestmoen, Skatval, Skjelstadmarka, Sona, and Værnes. FIS Cross-Country World Cup
The FIS Cross-Country World Cup is an annual cross-country skiing competition, arranged by the International Ski Federation (FIS) since 1981. The competition was arranged unofficially between 1973 and 1981, although it received provisional recognition on the 31st FIS Congress, 29–30 April 1977 in Bariloche, Argentina. The first World Cup races were held on 9 January 1982 and were located in Reit im Winkl, West Germany and Klingenthal, East Germany. Bill Koch of the United States and Berit Aunli of Norway were the overall winners in the first season. Rules Competitors attempt to achieve the most points during the season. They compete in two disciplines: Distance and Sprint. Current Distance races are mostly 10 km, 20 km, Skiathlon and 50 km for the men and women. The ''Fédération internationale de ski et de snowboard'' (FIS; en, International Ski and Snowboard Federation) is the highest international governing body for skiing and snowboarding. Founded on 2 February 1924 in Chamonix, France during the inaugural Winter Olympic Games, the FIS is responsible for the Olympic disciplines of Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding. Kristen Kvello
Kristen Kvello (19 October 1931 – 8 September 1998) was a Norwegian cross-country skier and coach, sports official and magazine editor. He was the father of Berit Aunli. Born in Nesna on 19 October 1931, Kvello competed for the clubs Malvik IL, Selbu IL and Mebondens IL. He was Norwegian champion in 50 km in 1957, and two times in the relay (1952 and 1953). In 1956 he became world champion in military patrol. He was head coach for the Norwegian national cross-country team from 1958 to 1964. He was the first person to be appointed all-year-round in this position, and his team gatherings established a pattern also for later generations. Tom Sandberg
Tom Sandberg (born 6 August 1955) is a former nordic combined skier from Mo i Rana, Norway who competed from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. During the 1982 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, he won the 15 km individual event by 0.2 seconds over Konrad Winkler of East Germany. Sandberg also earned two medals in the team event at the world championships as well (gold: 1984, silver: 1982 – tied with Finland). His greatest year was 1984, when he became Olympic champion and won the World Cup. Sandberg also won nine national championships during his career.
