Alex Bent
Alex Bent (born January 31, 1993) is an American musician best known as the drummer for heavy metal bands Trivium, Arkaik and Dragonlord. Bent is a former drummer for Battlecross and Brain Drill. Bent has also toured with Decrepit Birth and Testament. Early life Bent was born January 31, 1993, in Oakland, California. When Bent turned 11 years of age, he asked his father to assemble his old drum kit. After teaching himself how to perform percussion for just over one year, he competed in drum competitions and auditioned for various musical ensembles. When Bent turned 15, he performed with Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Modesto Junior College Jazz Band in addition to other local musical groups. Within the next 3 years, he participated in the Guitar Center Drum Off making it to Regional Finals. Jevene Bent
Jevene Bent is a former Jamaican police officer who was deputy commissioner of the Jamaica Constabulary Force from 2003 to 2013, the first woman to hold this rank. She later served as Commissioner of Corrections from 2013 to 2014. Bent grew up in a small farming community near Southfield, Jamaica. She initially trained as a teacher, attending the Church Teachers' College in Mandeville; she raised and sold pigs in order to fund her education. In 1976, Bent cut short her teaching career to join the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). She was one of the first female recruits to train alongside her male counterparts – previously, women who joined the force had been placed into separate female-only units. Bent's first posting was to Half Way Tree, Kingston. Spencer John Bent, VC, MM (known as "Joe") (18 March 1891 – 3 May 1977) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Biography He was 23 years old, and a drummer in the 1st Battalion, The East Lancashire Regiment, British Army during the First World War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On the night of 1–2 November 1914, near Le Gheer, Belgium, when his officer, the platoon sergeant and a number of men had been struck down, Drummer Bent took command of the platoon and with great presence of mind and coolness succeeded in holding the position. Silas Bent
Silas Bent IV (born May 9, 1882, in Millersburg, Kentucky – d. July 30, 1945 in Greenwich, Connecticut), son of Silas Bent III and Ann Elizabeth (Tyler) Bent was an American journalist, author, and lecturer. He spent nearly three decades as a journalist, including time as a freelance writer, and spent a year as an assistant professor at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Bent authored several books and articles, many critiquing the practices of newspapers in their reporting. He was married to Elizabeth Sims. Ridley Bent is the stage name of Brian Fowler, a Canadian country music, country singer-songwriter. Born in City of Halifax, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Bent was raised throughout Canada in a Military of Canada, military family. Lieutenant Colonel Philip Eric Bent (3 January 1891 – 1 October 1917) was a Canadian British Army officer recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Biography Bent was born on 3 January 1891 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was educated at the Royal High School, Edinburgh and Ashby Grammar School, Ashby de la Zouch. He joined the training ship in 1907. He served two years as a Cadet and then went to sea. He was taking his Merchant Navy officer's ticket when the war broke out in 1914. Paul Bent
Paul Bent (born 1 May 1965) is a former English cricketer who played first-class and List A cricket for Worcestershire between the mid-1980s and early 1990s. Bent made his first-class debut against Cambridge University in June 1985, scoring 14 in his only innings. He was then confined to Second XI appearances for three years, until he was given a short run of games in the first team in July and August 1988. These included 31 and 50 (his maiden first-class half-century) against Yorkshire, as well as the highest score of his short List A career, 36 in a Refuge Assurance League game against Sussex. The following summer, 1989, was the best of Bent's Worcestershire career. Although he had only a single (and unsuccessful) one-day outing, he played 13 first-class games and scored 530 runs at an average of just over 24. Margaret Bent
Margaret Bent CBE , (born Margaret Hilda Bassington; 23 December 1940) is an English musicologist who specializes in music of the late medieval and Renaissance eras. In particular, she has written extensively on the Old Hall Manuscript, English masses as well as the works of Johannes Ciconia and John Dunstaple. Biography Bent was educated at the Acton Haberdashers' Aske's School for Girls and Girton College, Cambridge University (where she read music, was organ scholar, and is now an honorary fellow), receiving her BA in 1962 and PhD in 1969. She taught at Cambridge and King's College London after 1963, and became a lecturer at Goldsmiths' College in 1972. In 1975 she was appointed professor at Brandeis University and in 1981 at Princeton University, and served as department chair in both. A former England under-21 international, the journeyman striker played 573 games and scored 113 goals for fourteen different clubs. His numerous transfer fees totalled over £10 million. Kimball Bent
Kimball Bent (24 August 1837 – 22 May 1916), also known as Kimble Bent, was a soldier and adventurer, who deserted from the British Army during the New Zealand Wars and lived for several years among the Maori people of New Zealand. Biography Bent was born in Eastport, Maine USA. He ran away to sea at 17 and spent three years travelling the Atlantic seaboard as a sailor/ gunner in the US Navy. He returned to Eastport but was restless and sailed to Liverpool, England. Penniless and seeking adventure on 18 October 1859 he enlisted in the 57th (West Middlesex) Regiment of Foot in the British Army. He served in India and his unit was posted to New Zealand in 1861. His record was dubious, and he was repeatedly disciplined for various military infractions including disobedience and drunkenness.
