Benoît Lamy
Benoît Lamy (; 19 September 1945 – 15 April 2008) was a Belgian film director, best known for his picture ''Home Sweet Home'' (1973). Biography Lamy was born in Arlon in the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and died in Braine-l'Alleud, Walloon Brabant, Belgium. His film debut ''Home Sweet Home'' starring Claude Jade and Jacques Perrin won a Diploma award at the 8th Moscow International Film Festival. It was also nominated for a Golden Prize award and received 14 international awards from Montréal to Tehran. Along with Gabrielle Borile, their picture ''Combat de fauves'' (1997) won a Golden Bayard award at the Namur International Festival of French-Speaking Film. Death On April 15, 2008, Lamy was murdered by Perceval Ceulemans, with whom he lived with in Nivelles. On July 15, 2014, Ceulemans was sentenced to years in prison for "voluntary manslaughter". GAL (cartoonist)
Gerard Alsteens (born 3 August 1940, in Auderghem) is a Belgian political cartoonist, graphic artist and painter who works under the pseudonym "GAL". which, artistically speaking, share a closer resemblance to paintings than regularly drawn cartoons. Throughout the years his work has received several prizes and awards. Biography GAL was born in 1940 in Auderghem, Brussels, together with his twin brother Edgard. At the age of twelve he won a drawing contest in the newspaper ''Het Nieuws van den Dag''. He studied painting and graphic art at the higher St. Lucas-instituut in Brussels, where he would become a teacher at a later age. Roland Topor (7 January 1938 – 16 April 1997) was a French illustrator, cartoonist, comics artist, painter, novelist, playwright, film and TV writer, filmmaker and actor, who was known for the surreal nature of his work. He was of Polish-Jewish origin. His parents were Jewish refugees from Warsaw. He spent the early years of his life in Savoy, where his family hid him from the Gestapo. Biography Roland Topor's parents came to France in the 1930s. In 1941 Topor's father, Abram, along with thousands of other Jewish men living in Paris, were required to register with the Vichy authorities. Topor's father was subsequently arrested and interned in a prison camp at Pithiviers, where inmates would be held before being sent to other concentration camps, usually Auschwitz.
