Beniamino Andreatta
Beniamino "Nino" Andreatta (11 August 1928 – 26 March 2007) was an Italian economist and politician. He was a member of Christian Democrat, and one of the founders of the Italian People's Party in 1994 and of the Olive Tree coalition in 1996. Early life and career At the Liceo Classico Giovanni Prati di Trento was a school friend of Giorgio Grigolli, later President of the Autonomous Province of Trento. After graduating in law from University of Padua in 1950, receiving the award for "best graduate of the year", he later completed his studies in economics at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan, and as a visiting scholar at Cambridge. In 1961, after his marriage to his wife Giana, he went to India on behalf of MIT, as a consultant to the Planning Commission of the government of Jawaharlal Nehru. Trentino ( lld, Trentin), officially the Autonomous Province of Trento, is an autonomous province of Italy, in the country's far north. Giorgio Grigolli
Giorgio Grigolli (Mori, 21 December 1927 – Trento, 8 November 2016) was an Italian politician. He has been President of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol (1967–1974) and Trentino (1974–1979). Biography Grigolli studied at the Giovanni Prati high school in Trento, where he was a classmate of Beniamino Andreatta. He graduated in law from the University of Bologna in 1952. In 1952 he became editor of the newspaper ''l'Adige''. From 17 October 1961 to 1 December 1967 he was its deputy director in charge. In 1958 he became provincial secretary of the Christian Democracy. From 1973 to 1993 he was regional secretary. He was provincial councilor from 1964 to 1983, for four terms. From 1965 to 1968 he was the chairman of the DC. From 13 March 1974 to 15 March 1979 he was president of the Autonomous province of Trento, for two mandates. The Olive Tree ( it, L'Ulivo) was a denomination used for several successive centre-left political and electoral alliances of Italian political parties from 1995 to 2007. The historical leader and ideologue of these coalitions was Romano Prodi, Professor of Economics and former leftist Christian Democrat, who invented the name and the symbol of The Olive Tree with Arturo Parisi in 1995. The Italian People's Party ( it, Partito Popolare Italiano, PPI) was a Christian-democratic, centrist and Christian-leftist political party in Italy. The party was a member of the European People's Party (EPP). The PPI was the formal successor of the Christian Democracy (DC), but was soon deprived of its conservative elements, which successively formed the Christian Democratic Centre (CCD) in 1994 and the United Christian Democrats (CDU) in 1995.
