Giorgio Grigolli
Giorgio Grigolli (Mori, 21 December 1927 – Trento, 8 November 2016) was an Italian politician. He has been President of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol (1967–1974) and Trentino (1974–1979). Biography Grigolli studied at the Giovanni Prati high school in Trento, where he was a classmate of Beniamino Andreatta. He graduated in law from the University of Bologna in 1952. In 1952 he became editor of the newspaper ''l'Adige''. From 17 October 1961 to 1 December 1967 he was its deputy director in charge. In 1958 he became provincial secretary of the Christian Democracy. From 1973 to 1993 he was regional secretary. He was provincial councilor from 1964 to 1983, for four terms. From 1965 to 1968 he was the chairman of the DC. From 13 March 1974 to 15 March 1979 he was president of the Autonomous province of Trento, for two mandates. Order Of Merit Of The Italian Republic
The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic ( it, Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana) is the senior Italian order of merit. It was established in 1951 by the second President of the Italian Republic, Luigi Einaudi. The highest-ranking honour of the Republic, it is awarded for "merit acquired by the nation" in the fields of literature, the arts, economy, public service, and social, philanthropic and humanitarian activities and for long and conspicuous service in civilian and military careers. The post-nominal letters for the order are OMRI. The order effectively replaced national orders such as the Civil Order of Savoy (1831), the Order of the Crown of Italy (1868), the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus (1572) and the Supreme Order of the Most Holy Annunciation (1362). Marcialonga
Marcialonga is a cross-country ski race which is arranged for the last Sunday in January in Trentino in Italy. It was first held in 1971 and has been a part of Worldloppet as long as Worldloppet has been around. The run begins in Moena, where the skiers first go further up Fassa Valley and along Canazei, passing Moena on its way alongside Cavalese in the Fiemme Valley. Marcialonga runs in classic style, and is 70 km long, but in 2007, 2015 and 2017, it was shortened to 57 km due to snow problems. In 1975, 1989 and 1990 it was cancelled due to the total lack of snow on the track. A short race, ''Marcialonga light'' is 45 km, and goes from Moena to Predazzo. Beniamino Andreatta
Beniamino "Nino" Andreatta (11 August 1928 – 26 March 2007) was an Italian economist and politician. He was a member of Christian Democrat, and one of the founders of the Italian People's Party in 1994 and of the Olive Tree coalition in 1996. Early life and career At the Liceo Classico Giovanni Prati di Trento was a school friend of Giorgio Grigolli, later President of the Autonomous Province of Trento. After graduating in law from University of Padua in 1950, receiving the award for "best graduate of the year", he later completed his studies in economics at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan, and as a visiting scholar at Cambridge. In 1961, after his marriage to his wife Giana, he went to India on behalf of MIT, as a consultant to the Planning Commission of the government of Jawaharlal Nehru.
