Bengt Rasin
Rear Admiral Bengt Göran Rasin, né ''Larsson'' (17 April 1922 – 2 January 2013) was a Swedish Navy officer. His senior commands include chief of the Coastal Fleet, commanding officer of the West Coast Military Command and commanding officer of the Western Military District. Rasin also served as chairman of the Royal Swedish Society of Naval Sciences. Early life Rasin was born Bengt Göran Larsson on 17 April 1922 in Annedal Parish, Gothenburg, Sweden, the son of chief physician Hjalmar Larsson and his wife Elsa (née Rasin). Both parents were employed at Gothenburg schools and were anxious that their son would receive a good education as a basis for the future. Tall Ships' Races
The Tall Ships Races are races for sail training "tall ships" (sailing ships). The races are designed to encourage international friendship and training for young people in the art of sailing. The races are held annually in European waters and consists of two racing legs of several hundred nautical miles, and a "cruise in company" between the legs. Over one half of the crew of each ship participating in the races must consist of young people. Between 1973 and 2003 the races were known as The Cutty Sark Tall Ships Races, having been sponsored by Cutty Sark whisky. Älvsborg Coastal Artillery Regiment
The Älvsborg Coastal Artillery Regiment ( sv, Älvsborgs kustartilleriregemente), designation KA 4, was a Swedish Navy coastal artillery regiment of the Swedish Armed Forces which operated between 1942 and 2000. The unit was based in Gothenburg. History After the Swedish Coastal Artillery was established in 1902, intended for manning the Sweden's coastal fortifications, it was decided that a detachment from the Karlskrona Coastal Artillery Regiment (KA 2) called Älvsborg Coastal Artillery Detachment, would be located in Gothenburg. The existing facilities at Nya Varvet were placed at the disposal of the coastal artillery. Thus, Gothenburg's coastal artillery had begun its existence.
