Benedict Fjord
Benedict Fjord is a fjord in Peary Land, northern Greenland. To the north, the fjord opens into the Lincoln Sea of the Arctic Ocean. The fjord was named by Robert Peary in honor of New York banker and yachtsman E. C. Benedict, one of the prominent members of the Peary Arctic Club. Cape Washington ( da, Kap Washington) is a headland in North Greenland. Administratively it belongs to the Northeast Greenland National Park. Geography Cape Washington is located east of Cape Kane, off the mouth of the Hunt Fjord at the northern end of the Roosevelt Land Peninsula. Roosevelt Land ( da, Roosevelts Land) is a peninsula in far northern Greenland. Gertrud Rask Land ( da, Gertrud Rasks Land) is an area in Peary Land, North Greenland. Administratively it is part of the Northeast Greenland National Park.Google Maps The territory was named by Lauge Koch after Gertrud Rask (1673 – 1735), the wife of missionary Hans Egede, during the 1921–1923 Bicentenary Jubilee Expedition surveys. The Roosevelt Range or Roosevelt Mountains ( da, Roosevelt Fjelde) is a mountain range in Northern Greenland. Administratively this range is part of the Northeast Greenland National Park. Its highest peak is the highest point in Peary Land. Cape Cannon ( da, Kap Cannon) is a headland in the Lincoln Sea, Arctic Ocean, North Greenland. Administratively it is part of the Northeast Greenland National Park. Achton Friis
Achton Friis (5 September 1871 – 17 December 1939) was a Denmark, Danish illustrator, painter and writer. He participated in the Denmark Expedition to Northeast Greenland in 1906–1908, creating a large number of works in the process, both landscape paintings and portraits, as well as a written account which was published in 1909. He later published several comprehensive and richly illustrated works with descriptions of the nature and cultural history of different parts of Denmark. In addition, he designed decorative works for the Bing & Grøndahl porcelain manufacturer. He is buried at Vestre Cemetery in Copenhagen. His son, Claus Achton Friis, was also a painter and graphic artist. Early life and education Friis was born in Trustrup on the Djursland peninsula in 1871.
