Ben Trigger (born 27 May 2006) is a speedway rider from Plymouth England. Career In 2021, he won the British 500cc Youth Championship and signed for the Leicester Lion Cubs for the 2021 National Development League speedway season. In 2022, he signed for Plymouth Centurions for the 2022 National Development League speedway season. He missed some of the season after fracturing his tibia. After a successful season (despite the injury) Trigger gained a call up to the Plymouth first team and was named in their seven starters for the SGB Championship 2023. Leicester Lion Cubs
Leicester Lion Cubs are a speedway team that was formed in November 2018 to race in the National League at the Beaumont Park Stadium in Leicester. This team is the second and junior Leicester Lions speedway team racing at this venue. History The club experienced success in their inaugural season, when they won the league and cup double during the 2019 National Development League speedway season. In 2022, the club dominated the season by winning the league, successfully defending their National League Knockout Cup title (from 2019) and winning the Pairs Championship. Plymouth Gladiators
The Plymouth Gladiators are a speedway team in the British SGB Championship. Under several names Plymouth have competed during various seasons from 1932. The club was reformed after a gap of thirty-six years in 2006 by former St Austell Gulls rider Mike Bowden In 2021 the club successfully applied to join the British second division, the SGB Championship. The team names included Tigers, Panthers, Devils and Bulldogs History 1932–1937 Plymouth's original home was Pennycross Stadium. The Mildenhall Fen Tigers are a British speedway team, founded in 1975 and currently riding in the National Development League. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. 2021 National Development League Speedway Season
The National Development League 2021 is the third tier/division of British speedway for the 2021 season. Due to pressures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic it was decided that the league would be decided by the final table standings only, with no playoffs being held. For the same reason no Knockout Cup would be held. Team changes There were significant changes from the previous 2019 National Development League speedway season. Plymouth Gladiators and Kent Kings moved up a division to the SGB Championship but the latter formed a junior side called the Kent Royals to compete in the development league. The Cradley Heathens had withdrawn after the 2019 season and the Isle of Wight Warriors withdrew from the league in early 2021. The 2022 National Development League was the third division/tier of British speedway for the 2022 season. It is a semi-professional development league, containing the junior sides of many SGB Premiership and SGB Championship clubs. Summary Eight clubs competed for the League Championship, with Armadale, Belle Vue, Berwick, Kent, Leicester and champions Mildenhall all returning. Kent would switch venues from Central Park Stadium to the Iwade Speedway Stadium and would only enter the Royals in the National League. The 2023 SGB Cab Direct Championship season will be the 76th season of the second tier of British Speedway and the 6th known as the SGB Championship. The British Speedway Network (BSN) would stream 35 matches live for the second year running.
