Belinda Green
Belinda Lynette Green (born 4 May 1952) is an Australian model and beauty queen who won the Miss World 1972 contest at the age of 20. She became the second Australian to win the title; the first, Penelope Plummer, was crowned Miss World in 1968. The pageant was held in London, at the Royal Albert Hall. Green's triumph came in a year that saw Australia win the Miss Universe crown, the Miss Asia Pacific title, and placed first runner-up in the Miss International. Early life Green was born in North Carlton, Melbourne, to parents Gwen and Robert. She moved to Sydney in her teen years, after the death of her father in 1959. Miss World
Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Morley's widow, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant. Along with Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth, it is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. The current Miss World is Karolina Bielawska of Poland, who was crowned by Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica on March 16, 2022, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Kerry Anne Wells (born 25 September 1951 in Perth) is an Australian fashion designer, writer, commentator, news anchor and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 1972. The 1972 pageant was the first to take place outside the continental United States. That year, it was held in Dorado, Puerto Rico. Wells was not crowned by her predecessor, Georgina Rizk because Rizk was not able to travel to Puerto Rico due to government restrictions because of fears of a terrorist attacks after a group of Japanese hired by Arab terrorists, attacked the international airport in Tel Aviv and killed twenty-two Puerto Rican tourists.
