Belfast Sabres
The Belfast Sabres (Officially the Belfast Down East Auto Parts Sabres) are a Canadian Junior C ice hockey team located in Belfast, Prince Edward Island. They play out of the Belfast Recreation Centre, and are coached by Devan Gunn. They are members of the Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League. Team history Unlike the average expansion franchise, the Sabres became a force in the PEIJCHL after only a few years in the league. They finished second in the league in both their second and third seasons, behind only South Side. By their third season the Sabres had advanced to their first league playoff finals only to lose to the South Side. Belfast, Prince Edward Island
Belfast is a rural municipality in Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located in southeastern Queens County in the townships of Lot 57 and Lot 58. Situated on the island's south shore along the Northumberland Strait, Belfast is predominantly an agricultural area. History Belfast was the landing site of Lord Selkirk's settlers in 1803. These poor displaced Scottish farmers soon established themselves on the best land in the area and it became one of the most productive farming districts in the colony. Until very recently, the area around Belfast was Canadian Gaelic-speaking and added many important works of poetry to Scottish Gaelic literature. Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League
The 'Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League'' is a Junior "C" ice hockey league in Prince Edward Island, Canada, sanctioned by Hockey Canada. The league was known as the Prince Edward Island Minor Junior Hockey League until 2009. The winner of the playoffs competes in the Maritime-Hockey North Junior C Championship. History In 2015 the South Side Lynx won their first league championship and then proceeded to be the first PEI representative to advance to the Maritime-Hockey North Junior C Championship final game. In the championship game the Lynx played against the Baffin Blizzard with both teams vying to be the first team from their province/territory to claim a Maritime-Hockey North title. The Baffin Blizzard prevailed, winning 6–5. After a one-year absence a Summerside team, now known as the Crunch, was announced as returning to the league for the 2016–17 season. The South Side Lynx (officially the South Side MacDonald's Excavation/EF MacPhee Lynx) are a Canadian Junior C ice hockey team based in Crapaud, Prince Edward Island. They are members of the Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League. They are coached by Paul Dawson and play out of the South Shore Actiplex. The Lynx have won the Razzy's PEI Junior C league title on three occasions in 2015, 2016 and 2017. History The South Side Lynx were founded in 2009. The Tignish Aces (officially the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces) are a Canadian Junior C ice hockey team based in Tignish, Prince Edward Island. They play in the Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League. They play at the Credit Union Arena and are coached by Dwayne Handrahan. The Sherwood Metros (formerly the Sherwood Falcons) are a Canadian Junior C ice hockey team located in Sherwood, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. They play in the Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League. History The Sherwood Falcons were founded in 2005, and have played in Charlottetown for their entire existence.
