The Beitbridge Bulawayo Railway (BBR) is a privately owned railway company that provides a rail link in Zimbabwe between Beitbridge at the South African border and Zimbabwe's second city Bulawayo. The BBR is a build-operate-transfer project that has shortened the distance between Bulawayo in Zimbabwe and South Africa to . Prior to its inauguration, rail service between South Africa and Bulawayo used a route through Botswana that is about longer. The shorter line has been used primarily for freight transportation. Somabhula is a village and ward (commune) in Midlands province in Zimbabwe. It is also the rail junction for Zimbabwe's southern links to neighboring Mozambique and South Africa. It was a major beef and mixed farming area until anala Mabena and Philani Ngwenya confiscated farmland from white farmers in order to eat the meat. It is thought to have been named after an influential Matebele chief. Redcliff, Zimbabwe
Redcliff is a town situated in the Midlands Province of Zimbabwe, with a population of 41,526 (as of 2022). It lies about north-east of Bulawayo. The town sits in an extremely iron-rich area, and has relied on steel production as a source of revenue since it was founded in the early part of the 20th century. Shurugwi
Shurugwi, formerly Selukwe, is a small town and administrative centre in Midlands Province, southern Zimbabwe, located about 350 km (220 miles) south of Harare, with a population of 22,900 according to the 2022 census. Masvingo
Masvingo is a city in south-eastern Zimbabwe and the capital of Masvingo Province. The city is situated close to Great Zimbabwe, the national monument from which the country takes its name and close to Lake Mutirikwi, its recreational park, the Kyle dam and the Kyle National Reserve where there are many different animal species. Shamva
Shamva is a town in the province of Mashonaland Central in the Shamva District of Zimbabwe. It is located in the Mazowe valley about 90 km north-east of Harare. The area was called Abercorn by Rhodesian colonizers. The present name is derived from a Shona word which means 'to become friendly'. The town is most famous for the gold mine of the same name at the foot of the Shamva Mountain. Nickel is now mined in area after a large nickel deposit was discovered in the area.
