Begna River
The Begna is a river in Viken (county), Viken and Innlandet counties in Norway. The long river runs from the Filefjell mountain area through Valdres to the town of Hønefoss where it joins the river Randselva before it empties into the Tyrifjorden. The river Begna drains a Drainage basin, watershed of and this is the primary river in the watershed. Along its course, the river passes through the village of Begna, Norway, Begna in Sør-Aurdal Municipality. The Norwegian writer, Mikkjel Fønhus lived much of his life and located most of his novels along the river Begna. Course The headwaters of the river is found in the Filefjell mountain plateau on the south side of the Jotunheimen mountains. Mikkjel Fønhus
Mikkjel Fønhus (14 March 1894 – 28 October 1973) was a Norwegian journalist, novelist and short story writer. Fønhus' stories are often set in the wilderness, featuring animals and animal behaviour. Personal life Mikkel Arnesen Fønhus was born on the Nordre Fønhus farm in the Valdres Valley in Sør-Aurdal, Oppland, Norway to the merchant Arne Mikkelsen Fønhus (1860–1896) and Olava Olsdatter Storsveen (1867–1948). After six years of primary school, he attended four years of middle school in Aurdalsbyen and three years of secondary school in Oslo. He also started studying law at the University of Oslo. His marriage to the teacher Helga Karlsgot in 1926 ended in divorce, and he then married Margrethe Frøshaug in 1934. Career Fønhus made his literary debut with the novel '' Skoggangsmand'' in 1917, a story about an outlaw. Nes i Ådal is a small village in the valley of Ådal in the municipality Ringerike (municipality), Ringerike in Buskerud, Norway. The village lies on both sides of the river Begna (river), Begna, just north of the river's outlet in Lake Sperillen. Begnadalen or Begndalen is a valley in Norway. The valley runs through Sør-Aurdal Municipality in Innlandet county and Ringerike Municipality in Viken county. The long valley follows the river Begna from Bagn to the lake Sperillen. The European route E16 passes through the valley. In the central part of the valley, the Church of Norway has a church which is called the Begnadalen Church. The main Begnadalen valley has several smaller side valleys that branch off of it. Strondafjorden
Strondafjorden () is a lake which lies in the municipalities of Nord-Aurdal and Vestre Slidre in Innlandet county, Norway. The lake is part of the Begna watershed. The lake sits at an elevation of above sea level and it has a circumference of . The town of Fagernes is located at the southeast end of the lake. The northwest end of the lake is crossed by the Ulnes Bridge in the village of Røn. The European route E16 highway runs along the north shore of the lake, for its whole length.
