Bazarak, Panjshir
Bāzārak is the provincial capital of Panjshir Province, in the Panjshir Valley of northeastern Afghanistan. It is a small city with a total population of 24,723 and has only three police districts ( nahias). The total land area of Bazarak city is 9,122 hectares and there are 2,747 dwellings in the city. It comprises six villages: Khanez, Jangalak, Malaspa, Parandeh and Rahmankhel. The tomb of Ahmad Shah Massoud, known as the "Lion of Panjshir", is located in Bazarak. History During the Taliban rule of Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001, Bazarak and the Panjshir Valley region was a stronghold for the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance group of former mujahideen, led by town native Ahmad Shah Massoud. Bazarak District
Bazarak District is a district of Panjshir Province, Afghanistan. The population in 2019 was estimated to be 20,892. The district was reportedly the last of the province captured by the Taliban from the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan on 6 September, during the Republican insurgency in Afghanistan. Remaining resistance fighters were pushed into the mountains. On 9 September, however, Ali Maisam Nazary, the Resistance's spokesman and foreign relations head, downplayed the amount of territory the Taliban was reported to have taken control of in Panjshir province, stating that 60% was still under National Resistance Front control. The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936. Ali Maisam Nazary (Persian: علی میثم نظری, born 1990) is an Afghan politician; since August 2021 he is head of Foreign Relations for the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF). The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF), also known as the Second Resistance, is a military alliance of former Northern Alliance members and other anti-Taliban fighters loyal to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The founder and president of NRF is Ahmad Massoud. When the Taliban captured Afghanistan on 15 August 2021, former first vice president Amrullah Saleh, citing provisions of the 2004 Constitution, declared himself the caretaker president of Afghanistan and announced the republican resistance against the Taliban. 2021 Taliban Offensive
A military offensive by the Taliban insurgent group and other allied militants led to the fall of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan based in Kabul and marked the end of the nearly 20-year-old War in Afghanistan, that had begun following the United States invasion of the country.
