Basnæs
Basnæs is a manor house and estate located southeast of Skælskør, Slagelse Municipality, Denmark. The Gothic Revival style main building is a three-storey building with three corner towers designed by Gustav Friedrich Hetsch. The estate covers approximately 1,000 h4ectares of land. History The early history of the estate is unclear but the two small villages of Basnes and Nybølle were in the 14th century located at the site where Basnæs stands today. In 1366, Niels Pedersen pledged two farms in Basnes and two farms in Nybølle to Thure Knudsen. In 1400, the farms were acquired by the Busjios of Roskilde. In 1410 they were owned by abbot Matz in Næstved. In 1417, the farms in Nybølle were acquired by Jakobsen Lunge. Basnæs is first mentioned in 1426. After Jakobsen Lunge's death in 1428, Basnæs passed to his brother Ove Jakobsen Lunge. In 1451, he was succeeded by his son Thyge Lunge. Slagelse Municipality
Slagelse Municipality is a municipality ( Danish: '' kommune'') in Region Zealand on the west coast of the island of Zealand (Danish: ''Sjælland'') in Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 571 km². The municipality borders Kalundborg Municipality to the north, Sorø Municipality to the north-east, Næstved Municipality to the south-east and connects to Nyborg Municipality via the Great Belt Bridge. Axel Arenfeldt
Axel Arenfeldt (26 November 1590 - 4 October 1647) was a Danish government official and landowner. He served as Treasurer (''rentemester'') in 1623–27 and also as War Commissioner during the Thirty Years' War in 1626–27. He was on several occasions also used as a diplomatic messenger. He owned Basnæs at Skælskør from 1625 to 1647 and was lensmann of first Giske (1623–43) and then Stjernholm (1643–46) in Norway. Early life and education Arenfeldt was the son of Hans Axelsen Arenfeldt of Rugård (died 1611) and Anne Jørgensdatter Marsvin (1569–1610) and the brother of Mogens Arenfeldt. He studied in Tübingen (1607), Giesen (1608) and Siena (1614). Career Arenfeldt was secretary of Danish Chancellery in 1615–23. Laurence De Boysset
Laurence de Boysset (c. 1633 - 3 February 1728) was a French-born Danish military officer and landowner. Early life and military career Boysset came to Denmark during the reign of Frederick V and began his career in Danish service in August 1683 as ''captain reforme'' in the Royal Life Guards. He was promoted to major in 1685, lieutenant colonel in 1690, and colonel in 1697. During the brief action on Zealand in 1700, on 22 July, he fended off an attempt to land enemy troops at Gyldenlund. Later that same year, he was part of an assistant corps that was sent to Sachsen and later served on the Imperial side in the Italy. In 1702, he participated in the Action at Mantua. Ove Ramel
Ove Ramel (1637 – 29 January 1685) was a Danish landowner. Biography Ramel (also written Offue Rommel and Rammel) was the son of Privy Counsellor Henrik Ramel (1601–1653) and Margrethe Skeel (died 1671 or later). He attended Sorø Academy in 1653–1656 and then went abroad to continue his education enrolling at the University of Orléans in 1659. After Denmark's loss of Scania/Skåne to Sweden in 1660, Ramel was naturalized after swearing his loyalty to the Swedish king. Jacob Brønnum Scavenius (1811–1850)
Jacob Brønnum Scavenius (2 April 1749 – 20 June 1820) was a Danish landowner. Early life and career Scavenius was born in Skagen in 1749 as the 9th of 11 children of merchant Peder Christensen Brønnum (or Brøndum) and Anne Ibsdatter. He graduated from Aalborg Grammar School in 1770 and assumed the name Scavenius (a latinification of 'person from Skagen'). Scavenius was a volunteer in (the treasury) until 1776 when he was employed as an assistant for the Danish Asiatic Company in India. He returned to Denmark as a wealthy man in 1792 after spending 15 years in Bengal. Property and titles Scavenius purchased Gjorslev, Erikstrup and Søholm on Stevns from the Lindencrone family in 1793. In 1798 he also purchased Klintholm on the island of Møn. Lars Benzon (July 21, 1687 – October 5, 1741) was a landowner and a Deputy Director (''deputeret'') in the General Affairs Commission of the Danish Royal Navy. Biography Lars Benzon was born at Sæbygård Manor on the island of Zealand, Denmark. He was the son of General Counselor of the Admiralty Council, Niels Benzon (1646–1708) and Else Scavenius (1660–89). Skælskør () is a town in Zealand, Denmark. It is located in Slagelse Municipality. Until 2007 Skælskør was the seat of Skælskør Municipality.
