Baptist Missions
Baptist Missions (BM) is a Baptist Mission (Christian), mission organisation and a department of the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland (ABC). It is located in the Baptist Centre and is shared with ABC. The scope of their activities is international in scale covering several countries including France, Latvia, Peru, the Republic of Ireland, Russia, Spain, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. History Missions work in Ireland can be traced back to 1814 when the Baptist Irish Society was formed. In 1888 the Baptist Irish Society was renamed the Irish Baptist Home Mission. Missions work in Peru began in 1924 when the Irish Baptist Foreign Mission was formed. The first mission partners were sent to Peru in 1927. Missions work in France began in 1972. In 1977 both organisations where merged into the present day Baptist Missions. Baptist Centre
The Baptist Centre is a building which houses the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland (ABC), its departments (Baptist Missions, Baptist Women, Baptist Youth, and others) and the Baptist Theological Centre which includes the Irish Baptist CollegeIrish Baptist College (IBC), the Irish Baptist College Library and the Irish Baptist Historical Society Archives. Located at 19 Hillsborough Road outside Lisburn, it was built in 2003 and opened on 10 May 2003. Role The building has an important role in the life of ABC and the community. Church planting is a term referring to the process (mostly in Protestant frameworks) that results in a new local Christian congregation being established. Irish Baptist College
The Irish Baptist College (IBC) is a Baptist theological college in Moira, Craigavon, Northern Ireland. It is affiliated with the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland. It is part of the Baptist Theological Centre which is located in the Baptist Centre and is shared with ABC. Baptist Irish Society
The Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland (ABC, ABCi and ABCI) is a Baptist Christian denomination based in Ireland. It is a group of 117 autonomous Baptist churches working together in fellowship and evangelism, training and caring ministries. The association only acts on behalf of the churches for the work which the churches have agreed to do together. History The Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland has its origins in the establishment of Baptist churches in Cork (1640), Dublin (1642) and Waterford (1650).
