Bandon GAA
Bandon GAA is a Gaelic football and Hurling club based in Bandon in County Cork, Republic of Ireland. The club is affiliated with Carbery division of Cork. In 2007, Bandon won the West Cork Junior A Football Championship, beating Muintir Bhaire in the final. The club's hurling team meanwhile were runners-up in the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship. They beat Kanturk in the semi-final but were overcome by Fr. O'Neill's in the final. In 2016 Bandon won the Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship beating Fermoy in the final. The club's football team meanwhile won the Cork Intermediate Football Championship. They beat Rockchapel in the final to achieve the "double". Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. Cork Junior Hurling Championship
The Cork Junior A Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Junior A Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork JAHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking junior clubs in the county of Cork in Ireland. It is the sixth tier overall in the entire Cork hurling championship system and is regarded as one of the toughest club competitions to win. The Cork Junior Championship was introduced in 1895 as a countywide competition for teams deemed not eligible for the senior grade or second-string senior teams. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. Pádraig Crowley
Pádraig Crowley (born 1957) is an Irish retired hurler who played for club side Bandon, divisional side Carbery and was a member of the Cork senior hurling team from 1980 until 1984. Career Born in Bandon, Crowley first came to prominence on the inter-county scene on the Cork minor team that lost to Kilkenny in the 1975 All-Ireland final. Munster Championship success followed with the under-21 team before a spell with the Cork senior team yielded a National League medal and back-to-back Munster Championship titles. Crowley enjoyed a 23-season club career with Bandon, however, it was with divisional side Carbery that he enjoyed his greatest club success when the division claimed the 1994 County Championship. Robert Emmetts GAA
Robert Emmetts GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in East London, England. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. History Robert Emmetts hurling club was founded in Bow Palais on 20 March 1948, with a Gaelic football club initiated less than six months later. The club's first game was against Thomas McCurtains and they competed in the London IHC for much of their existence. Robert Emmetts made their big breakthrough in 2004 when they defeated Fr. Murphy's to win the London SHC title. It was the first of the club's nine senior titles. 2017 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 2017 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 129th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the 2017 fixtures took place on 11 December 2016. The championship ran from 6 May to 22 October 2017. Glen Rovers entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Na Piarsaigh in Round 4. Youghal's relegation ended five years of top tier hurling for the club. The final was played on 22 October 2017 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, between Imokilly and Blackrock, in what was their third meeting in the final overall and a first meeting in 16 years. Imokilly won the match by 3–13 to 0–18 to claim their third championship title overall and a first title in 19 years. Ronan Crowley
Ronan Crowley (born 1990) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left corner-forward for the Lancashire senior team. Born in Bandon, County Cork, Crowley first played competitive hurling and Gaelic football at St. Brogan's College. He simultaneously came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Bandon club, winning divisional championship medals in the minor and under-21 grades. Crowley subsequently enjoyed success with the Bandon adult team, winning an intermediate championship medal in 2011 and a premier intermediate championship medal in 2016. He currently plays with St. Peter's in Manchester. Crowley made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he was selected for the Cork minor team. Féile na nGael (; Irish for "Festival of the Gaels") is an annual tournament comprising the sports of hurling, camogie and handball organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. Its stated aim is to bond communities, forge friendships, provide educational opportunities and unearth new leaders. Cork Under-21 Football Championship
The Cork Under-21 Football Championship is a Gaelic football competition in County Cork, Ireland for players under the age of 21. Clubs affiliated to Cork board compete to win this championship. All eight of the divisions in Cork organize their own championship. The divisional winners compete against each other to decide the county title.
