Bananaman
Bananaman is a fictional character appearing in British comic books. Bananaman is a parody of traditional superheroes, being portrayed as a schoolboy who is transformed into a muscled, caped adult man when he eats a banana. The character originally appeared in ''Nutty'' as the back page strip in Issue 1, dated 16 February 1980 drawn by John Geering. He has since appeared in ''The Dandy'' and ''The Beano''. The Dandy
''The Dandy'' was a British children's comic magazine published by the Dundee based publisher DC Thomson. The first issue was printed in December 1937, making it the world's third-longest running comic, after ''Il Giornalino'' (cover dated 1 October 1924) and ''Detective Comics'' (cover dated March 1937). From August 2007 until October 2010, it was rebranded as ''Dandy Xtreme''. One of the best selling comics in the UK, along with ''The Beano'', ''The Dandy'' reached sales of two million a week in the 1950s. The final printed edition was issued on 4 December 2012, the comic's 75th anniversary, after sales slumped to 8,000 a week. Barrie Appleby
Barrie Appleby is a British comics artist who works mainly for Scottish publisher D. C. Thomson & Co., drawing strips such as Dennis the Menace and Roger the Dodger for ''The Beano'' since the 1970s. He has also drawn Cuddles and Dimples for ''The Dandy'', as well as strips for ''Nutty'', ''Hoot'', ''Monster Fun'' and '' Buster''. Super School
Super School is a comic strip, which started in November 2008 and is drawn by Lew Stringer. This strip was stated in the book The History of The Beano: The Story So Far as originally having the name ''The Ultras'' in the planning stages, and was inspired by the X-Men. The strip originally features four super powered children (which later became five) and their non-super powered Teacher. The pupils are ''Invisible Isobel'', who as the name suggests can turn invisible; ''Safari Sam'', a shapeshifter who can become any animal; ''Stinkbomb'', who can create any aroma; ''Waterboy'', who as the name suggests can control water (like the Marvel Comics villain Hydroman). John Geering
John Keith Geering (9 March 1941 – 13 August 1999) was a British cartoonist with a distinctive, occasionally flamboyant style, most famous for his work for DC Thomson comics including '' Sparky'', '' The Topper'', '' Cracker'', ''Plug'', ''Nutty'', ''The Beano'' and ''The Dandy''. ''Nutty'' was a British comic magazine that ran for 292 issues from 16 February 1980 to 14 September 1985, when it merged with ''The Dandy''. Published by D. C. Thomson & Co. Tom Paterson
Tom Paterson is a Scottish comic artist who drew characters for Fleetway in 1973–1990, and D.C Thomson from 1986 to 2012. As of 2013, he currently draws strips for Viz. He lives in Leith, with three children, and is a Hearts supporter. Taking stylistic inspiration from Leo Baxendale's work on The Bash Street Kids, Paterson's talent as a cartoonist was discovered at the age of sixteen by original Dandy editor Albert Barnes, who was impressed with the cartoon samples Paterson had sent to him. Barnes offered the young artist a chance to collaborate with him on a strip called ''The Dangerous Dumplings'' (which would later be retooled as The Doyle Family for the Dandy), which was to become the leading strip of a new comic Barnes was developing, but the project was scrapped when Barnes retired and Paterson was hired to work for IPC after leaving school. Kev F. Sutherland (born 18 October 1961) is a Scottish comedian and comic strip creator. He has drawn for a variety of publications, including ''The Beano''. He has produced several shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, including The Sitcom Trials and The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre.
