Club Baloncesto León was a basketball team, based in León, Spain. History Early years (1981-1988) Baloncesto León was founded by José Antonio Moirón García, Enrique Emperador Marcos, Juan Carlos Rodríguez Villanueva, Lisardo Mourelo González and Alberto Sobrín Martínez in León on 20 May 1981. It began to play in ''Tercera División'', the fourth division of Spanish basketball. In 1981, the team was promoted to ''Segunda División''. After four years playing in the third tier, Baloncesto León was promoted to ''Primera División B'', the second division. Aranzana's first era (1989-1997) In the middle of the 1988-1989 season, the coach Mariano Parra was sacked because Baloncesto León was in relegation posts. Liga Española De Baloncesto
The Liga Española de Baloncesto, also known as LEB Oro, is the second basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system after the Liga ACB. It is run by the FEB. The Liga Española de Baloncesto is divided into two categories (the other one is the LEB Plata). The LEB league was founded in 1996 and is played under FIBA rules. It was renamed LEB Oro in 2007. The league is contested by 18 clubs. Each season, the top-finishing team in the LEB Oro are automatically promoted to the Liga ACB. The teams that finish the season in 2nd to 9th place enter a playoff tournament, with the winner also gaining promotion to the Liga ACB. The three lowest-finishing teams in the LEB Oro are relegated to LEB Plata. A total of 78 teams have competed in LEB Oro since its inception in 1996. 19 teams have been crowned champions and 30 teams have gained promotion to Liga ACB, of which only five teams could not play in Liga ACB. The Copa del Rey de Baloncesto (English: '' King's Cup of Basketball'') is an annual cup competition for Spanish basketball teams organized by Spain's top professional league, the Liga ACB. History Originally known as the ''Copa de España de Baloncesto'', was first played in 1933 and contested in its first editions only by teams from the provinces of Madrid and Barcelona. It was the first nationwide basketball competition played in Spain. 1992–93 FIBA Korać Cup
The 1992–93 FIBA Korać Cup was the 22nd edition of FIBA's Korać Cup basketball competition. The Italian Philips Milano defeated the Italian Virtus Roma in the final. This was the second consecutive year in which the final two teams were both Italian and the third consecutive Italian victory. 1990–91 ACB Season
The 1990–91 ACB season was the 8th season of the Liga ACB, after changing its name. The competition format changed again. The 24 teams were divided in two groups of 12 teams each. The eight first teams of each group advanced to the championship playoffs, and the four last teams of each group advanced to the relegation playoffs. Montigalà Joventut won their first ACB title, and their 3rd overall. It was the first ACB title won by a team besides FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
