Ballysaggart GAA
Ballysaggart GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Ballysaggart, County Waterford, Ireland. The club enters teams in hurling each year, which includes 2 adult hurling teams in the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship and the Western Junior Hurling “C” Championship, and had briefly returned to participating in Gaelic football entering a team in the West Waterford Junior Football Championship in 2015, after a lapse of ten years. Ballysaggart has no underage teams. Instead the club is amalgamated with Lismore GAA for underage teams and play as Naomh Carthach. Ballysaggart won the first competition organised by the GAA, the 1885 Waterford Senior Football Championship. In 2020, 135 years later, the club played their inaugural hurling campaign at the senior grade. 2019–20 All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship
The 2019–20 All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship was the 16th staging of the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's intermediate inter-county club hurling tournament. The championship began on 12 October 2019 and ended on 18 January 2020. On 18 January 2020, Tullaroan won the championship after a 3-19 to 5-12 defeat of Fr. O'Neill's in the All-Ireland final at Croke Park. This was their first ever championship title. Declan Dalton from the Fr. O'Neill's club was the championship's top scorer with 5-42. Stephen Bennett (born 8 October 1995) is an Irish hurling, hurler who plays for Waterford Intermediate Hurling Championship, Waterford Intermediate Championship club Ballysaggart GAA, Ballysaggart and at inter-county level with the Waterford senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a full-forward. Playing career Blackwater Community School Bennett first came to prominence as a hurler with Blackwater Community School in Lismore, County Waterford, Lismore. He played in every grade of hurling and enjoyed some success. On 23 November 2011, Bennett scored ten points for Blackwater CS in their 0-11 to 0-08 defeat of Dungarvan Community School to win the Dean Ryan Cup. Shane Bennett (hurler)
Shane Bennett (born 5 December 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays as a centre-forward for the Waterford senior team. Born in Ballysaggart, County Waterford, Bennett first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Blackwater Community School. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he first linked up with the Waterford minor team before later joining the under-21 side. Bennett played wing back in 2013 as Waterford won the All Ireland minor title for the first time since 1948. Three years later, he was part of the same team that captured the county's second All Ireland U-21 title, again beating Galway He made his senior debut during the 2015 league. Bennett has since become a regular member of the starting fifteen. At club level Bennett is a one-time Munster medallist in the junior grade with Ballysaggart.
