Bainbridge is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Conoy Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States, with a ZIP code of 17502. Bainbridge is located along Pennsylvania Route 441. As of the 2010 census the population was 1,355. Before European settlement, Bainbridge was the site of a Conoy village in the first decades of the 18th century, possibly called Conejoholo. History Bainbridge became home to the Conoy and Nanticoke tribes in the early 1700s when English settlers pushed them out of their original homes. Before the move, the Conoys lived in the area that is now Baltimore, and the Nanticokes lived across the Chesapeake Bay in what is now Delaware. In 1632, there were about 2,500 among the tribes, and by 1697 there were only about 300 due to diseases brought over by the English. Marietta is a borough in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The population was 2,633 at the 2020 census. It is located on the east bank of the Susquehanna River northwest of Columbia. Geography Marietta is located in western Lancaster County at (40.057169, -76.555955). Columbia, formerly Wright's Ferry, is a borough (town) in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 10,222. Piscataway People
The Piscataway or Piscatawa , are Native Americans. They spoke Algonquian Piscataway, a dialect of Nanticoke. One of their neighboring tribes, with whom they merged after a massive decline of population following two centuries of interactions with European settlers, called them the Conoy. Two major groups representing Piscataway descendants received state recognition as Native American tribes in 2012: the Piscataway Indian Nation and Tayac Territory and the Piscataway Conoy Tribe of Maryland. Within the latter group was included the Piscataway Conoy Confederacy and Sub-Tribes and the Cedarville Band of Piscataway Indians. All these groups are located in Southern Maryland. Pennsylvania Route 441
Pennsylvania Route 441 (PA 441) is a state route in central Pennsylvania that mostly parallels the Susquehanna River through Lancaster and Dauphin counties. The southern terminus is at PA 999 in the Manor Township hamlet of Washington Boro. The northern terminus is at Paxton Street in Harrisburg. The route heads north from Washington Boro to Columbia, where it intersects U.S. Route 30 (US 30). PA 441 continues up the river to Marietta and turns west, heading northwest past Bainbridge before leaving Lancaster County for Dauphin County.
