Baguio City Economic Zone
Baguio City Economic Zone is a special purpose development zone located in the city of Baguio in the Cordillera Administrative Region. It is operated by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, an agency in charge of developing and operating special economic zones in the Philippines. Atty. Rene Joey S. Baguio ( , ), officially the City of Baguio ( ilo, Siudad ti Baguio; fil, Lungsod ng Baguio), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Philippines. It is known as the "Summer Capital of the Philippines", owing to its cool climate since the city is located approximately above mean sea level, often cited as in the Luzon tropical pine forests ecoregion, which also makes it conducive for the growth of mossy plants, orchids and pine trees, to which it attributes its other moniker as the "City of Pines". The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR; ilo, Rehion/Deppaar Administratibo ti Kordiliera; fil, Rehiyong Pampangasiwaan ng Cordillera), also known as the Cordillera Region and Cordillera (), is an administrative region in the Philippines, situated within the island of Luzon. Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) is a government agency in the Philippines attached to the Department of Trade and Industry created to help promote investments in the export-oriented manufacturing industry into the country by assisting investors in registering and facilitating their business operations and providing tax incentives. The Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) is a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) tasked to manage and supervise the development of the Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport (CSEZFP) in the Philippines. The Cavite Economic Zone or Cavite Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) comprises of land encompassing the town of Rosario and the city of General Trias in the province of Cavite. It is located south of Manila. CEPZ was developed in five phases. Creation The Cavite Export Processing Zone was created by virtue of Presidential Proclamation Nos. 1980 and 2017 issued on May 30 and September 19, 1980 respectively. It later evolved into the Cavite Economic Zone when former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos signed into law the Special Economic Zone Act of 1995 on February 24, 1995.
