''Back to Basics'' is the fifteenth studio album by American vocal group, The Manhattans, released in 1986 through Columbia Records Columbia Records is an American record label owned by Sony Music, Sony Music Entertainment, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America, the North American division of Japanese Conglomerate (company), conglomerate Sony. It was the last record Gerald Alston would record with The Manhattans until he returned in 1995, and featured his duet performances with Regina Belle on the single "Where Did We Go Wrong?" and "Maybe Tomorrow", which was the B-side. The album was produced by Leo Graham Enterprises and contained songs written and produced by Bobby Womack. "Where Did We Go Wrong?" was produced by Bobby Womack and written by Kathy Bloxson aka Sasha, who worked with Womack as his background vocalist on two albums in the early '80's. The Manhattans
The Manhattans are an American popular R&B vocal group. Their work "Kiss and Say Goodbye", recorded in 1976, and 1980's " Shining Star", both sold millions of copies. The Manhattans have recorded 45 hits on the ''Billboard'' R&B Chart, including twelve top-10 R&B hits in the United States, starting in 1965. Sixteen of their songs have reached the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, including two top 10s and a number-one hit with their song "Kiss and Say Goodbye". They also charted eight U.S. R&B top 20 Albums, three of which were RIAA certified gold. Jeff Pescetto
Jeffrey "Jeff" Pescetto (born November 21, 1954) is an American musical artist who is most notable for collaborating with David Foster on the 1990 recreation of John Farnham's Australian single, "You're the Voice". Pescetto lent the vocals to Foster's pianism on the latter's ''River of Love'' album. He has also written and sung songs for various movie soundtracks. His credits include ''Licence to Kill'', ''Honey, I Shrunk the Kids'', and ''Breakdown''. He has also sung ''Tekken 5s opening song "Sparking" alongside Tom Leonard. James Dexter Weatherly (March 17, 1943 – February 3, 2021) was an American singer-songwriter who wrote mostly pop and country music. He played quarterback at the University of Mississippi while also writing music with his own bands. He subsequently chose songwriting over a football career. His notable songs include "The Need to Be" and " Midnight Train to Georgia". Early life Weatherly was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi, on March 17, 1943. He attended Pontotoc High School, where he was an all-star quarterback for the school's football team. He also started writing songs and formed his own bands during this time. He went on to study at the University of Mississippi. He was a backup quarterback on the Ole Miss Rebels football team that was undefeated in 1962. Frank Wildhorn (born November 29, 1958) is an American composer of both musicals and popular songs. His musical ''Jekyll & Hyde'' ran for four years on Broadway. He also wrote the #1 International hit song "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" for Whitney Houston. Brian August Potter is a British-born American pop music songwriter and record producer. With his writing partner, Dennis Lambert, Potter wrote and produced hits songs for the Four Tops, Tavares, the Grass Roots, Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds, Evie Sands, Coven, Hall and Oates, and Glen Campbell. Potter and Lambert were nominated for a Grammy Award for their production on ''Rhinestone Cowboy''. Career Hailing from Billericay in Essex, England, Potter began his music career in the 1960s in London. Eduardo Gutiérrez del Barrio, known professionally as Eddie del Barrio, is an Argentinian composer, arranger, songwriter, and pianist. He is a founding member of the jazz fusion band Caldera.
