Babaganouj (band)
Babaganoüj are an Australian indie rock band formed in 2011 in Brisbane by Charles Sale (guitar, vocals), Harriette Pillbeam (bass guitar, vocals), and Peter McDowell (drums). In 2011 after the dissolution of Sale's former band Yves Klein Blue in 2010, Sale released under the band's name an EP for free of old demos he recorded before the band was formed. In 2012, Jack Glesson joined the band as the new drummer, replacing McDowell. Following the release of their debut EP, ''Sife Lucks'' (2013), Ruby McGregor joined as the fourth member as the rhythm guitarist. Gleeson left the band in early 2016, and was replaced by Ritchie Daniell (the drummer from The Grates) on tour during 2016. Later that year, George Browning joined as the band's new official drummer. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Harriette Pilbeam (born 4 May 1993), known professionally as Hatchie, is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician. She has released an EP, '' Sugar & Spice'' (2018) and two studio albums: '' Keepsake'' (2019) and ''Giving the World Away'' (2022). History Harriette Pilbeam was born on 4 May 1993 in Brisbane. She started singing as a child, later learning guitar and bass in her teen years, as well as piano and clarinet later on. She studied entertainment, music, and management in college before pursuing live music as a creative outlet. She is the bassist and vocalist of the indie rock band Babaganouj, as well as a former member of the band Go Violets, which disbanded in 2014. Yves Klein Blue was an Australian indie rock band from Brisbane, which formed in 2005 and disbanded in 2010. The line-up included Chris Banham on drums and percussion, Sean Cook on bass guitar, Charles Sale on lead guitar and keyboards and Michael Tomlinson on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. The Grates
The Grates were an Australian indie rock band that formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 2002. They were brought to national attention in 2004 when a demo of their single "Trampoline" received airplay on radio station Triple J. Their first two albums, ''Gravity Won't Get You High'' (2006) and ''Teeth Lost, Hearts Won'' (2008), both reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 10.
