2020 Latvian Football Cup
The 2020 Latvian Football Cup was the 26th edition of the football tournament. The competition began on 23 July 2020 and ended on 8 November 2020. RFS were the defending champions, having won the previous year's final over Jelgava 3–2 after extra time. The cup winners qualified for the 2021–22 UEFA Europa League 1st qualifying round. Format 47 teams took part in the competition. Each round was played over single leg and matches took place for 90 minutes, with two halves of 45 minutes. If tied after regular time, 30 minutes of extra time were played, consisting of two periods of 15 minutes. If the score was still leveled after this, the match was decided by a penalty shoot-out in order to decide the winner. No seeding was applied at any round. The 2020 Latvian Higher League , known as the Optibet Virslīga for sponsorship reasons, was the 29th season of top-tier football in Latvia. The season began on 15 June 2020 and ended on 29 November 2020. The league winners earned a place in the UEFA Champions League and the second and third-placed clubs earned a place in the new UEFA Europa Conference League. Vugar Asgarov
Vüqar Asgarov ( az, Vüqar Əsgərov; born 14 May 1985 in Sumgayit) is an Azerbaijani football second striker who currently plays for SK Super Nova. He also holds Latvian citizenship. Career Vüqar Asgarov was born in Azerbaijan, but moved to Latvia in an early age. Vüqar Asgarov began his career in Liepājas Metalurgs system and there he played until 2008. Later he played for Latvian First League clubs FK Jelgava and FC Jūrmala. In 2010, Äsgärov joined another Latvian First League side SFK Varavīksne and after scoring a goal against Metalurgs in Latvian Cup, he was invited to join them. After three years with Liepājas Metalurgs, he left Latvia and signed for Azerbaijani club Sumgayit a two-year contract.
