BBC Radio 2 Eurovision
BBC Radio 2 Eurovision was a pop-up Digital Audio Broadcasting, DAB service from the BBC which launched at 12 noon on Thursday 8 May 2014. The station continued to broadcast for 12 hours each day until Sunday 11 May 2014. The station returned at noon on Thursday 21 May 2015 and continued to broadcast until 10pm on 24 May 2015. The station's programming mainly concentrated on the history and culture of the Eurovision Song Contest, as well as providing a more comprehensive coverage of the annual festival for Eurovision fans. Johnnie Walker (DJ)
Johnnie Walker, MBE (born Peter Waters Dingley; 30 March 1945) is an English radio disc jockey and broadcaster. He began his career on pirate radio, most notably on Radio Caroline. He joined BBC Radio 1 in 1969. He joined BBC Radio 2 in 1998 and currently presents '' Sounds of the 70s'' on Sunday afternoons and ''The Radio 2 Rock Show'' on Friday nights. Early life Walker's father sold electroplating equipment for car parts, at W. Canning & Co. Johnnie Walker was educated at two independent schools in Solihull. He attended Ruckleigh School until the age of eight and went on to Solihull School, where he enjoyed music lessons and playing rugby, but he failed his O-Level examinations. He then was a garage manager apprentice, studied for a City and Guilds qualification in motor mechanics at Gloucester Technical College and aspired to be a car salesman, before becoming a DJ in bars and ballrooms. BBC Music Jazz (a British national radio station) was a temporary pop-up Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) service which was a collaboration between BBC Radio, Jazz FM (UK), Jazz FM and London Jazz Festival, The EFG Jazz London Festival. The service ran from Thursday, 12 November 2015 until Sunday, 15 November 2015. The BBC Music Jazz event marked the broadcaster's first major collaboration with a commercial rival. BBC Radio 2 Country was a pop-up DAB service from the BBC which launched at 12:00 on Thursday 5 March 2015. The station covered the Country2Country Festival and was on air for the festival's duration. On its debut, the station broadcast for twelve hours each day until Sunday 8 March 2015. It was relaunched for the 2016 festival, held between 10 March 2016 and 13 March 2016, and again from 9 March 2017 to 12 March 2017. The station did not return for the 2018 or 2019 festivals.
