BBC Music Jazz
BBC Music Jazz (a British national radio station) was a temporary pop-up Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) service which was a collaboration between BBC Radio, Jazz FM (UK), Jazz FM and London Jazz Festival, The EFG Jazz London Festival. The service ran from Thursday, 12 November 2015 until Sunday, 15 November 2015. The BBC Music Jazz event marked the broadcaster's first major collaboration with a commercial rival. BBC Music Jazz was available via Digital Audio Broadcasting, online on the BBC Music Jazz's official website, or via the BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio iPlayer app. The service was unavailable on digital television. The station returned on Thursday 10 November 2016 at 10am, running round the clock until Monday 14 November at 10am. Jools Holland
Julian Miles Holland, (born 24 January 1958) is an English pianist, bandleader, singer, composer and television presenter. He was an original member of the band Squeeze and has worked with many artists including Jayne County, Sting, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, George Harrison, David Gilmour, Magazine, The The, Ringo Starr and Bono. Geoffrey Smith (born 1943, Michigan) is a British-based American radio presenter, author and former jazz percussionist. Smith was the regular presenter of BBC Radio 3's '' Jazz Record Requests'' for over twenty years and has also presented other programmes on the network. Biography Smith's father was a pianist who also played banjo in his local dance-band in Detroit. Smith's own active jazz career ended in 1969, discouraged by the rise of rock music. In 1973 he came to Britain to complete a PhD, where he began a new career as a freelance journalist and lecturer, contributing articles and reviews to '' Country Life'', ''New Society'' and ''The Spectator'' among others. Sir Michael Parkinson (born 28 March 1935) is an English broadcaster, journalist and author. Laura Mvula ( Douglas; born 23 April 1986) is a British singer. A native of Birmingham, England, Mvula has gained experience as a young member or leader of a cappella, jazz/neo-soul and gospel groups and choirs. She was classically trained.
