Jan Błoński
Jan Błoński (15 January 1931 – 10 February 2009) was a Polish historian, literary critic, publicist and translator. He was a leading representative of the Kraków school of literary criticism, regarded as one of the most influential critics of postwar Poland. Professor of the Jagiellonian University, Błoński was habilitated there for the work entitled ''Mikołaj Sęp Szarzyński and the beginnings of the Polish Baroque.'' He was the literary editor for the publication of Witold Gombrowicz's collected works in 1986–88 through ''Wydawnictwo Literackie''. He was also the Fellow of Collegium Invisibile. In 1996–2001 he served as juror for the Nike Literary Award. In November 1995 he was awarded the Kraków Book of the Month Award for the collected works of Sławomir Mrożek, his long-time friend from the Stalinist period. Jan Kidawa-Błoński (born 12 February 1953, Chorzów) is a Polish film director, producer and screenwriter. Life He initially studied architecture at the Silesian University of Technology. In 1980, he graduated from the National Film School in Łódź where he studied filmmaking. For his debut film, ''Trzy stopy nad ziemią'' ("Three Feet Above the Ground") he was awarded the Złote Grono Award at the Łagów Film Festival. Between 1982-1991, he was a member of the ''Silesia'' Film Studio. He served as head of the Polish Filmmakers Association from 1990 to 1994. He also sat on the board of the Independent Film and Television Producers Association in the years 1997-2001. In 2005, he directed an award-winning film ''Destined for Blues'', which tells the story of his nephew Ryszard Riedel, lead singer of blues-rock band Dżem. Małgorzata Maria Kidawa-Błońska, née Grabska (born 5 May 1957) is a Polish politician, lawyer, film producer, and sociologist. She was Marshal of the Sejm from 25 June 2015 to 11 November 2015 at the end of the Seventh term's composition of the lower house, after which being voted a Deputy Marshal of the Eighth and Ninth term, each time nominated by the opposition party Civic Platform, under the marshalcy of Marek Kuchciński and Elżbieta Witek, respectively. Błonie is a town in Warsaw West County, Masovian Voivodeship, Poland, with a population of 12,058 as of December 2021. History The settlement dates back to the 8th century. It was first mentioned in the 11th century, and already in the 12th century constituted a sizeable settlement with the first church founded in 1257 by Duke Konrad II of Masovia.
