Børge Ring
Børge Ring (17 February 1921 – 27 December 2018) was a Danish animated short film writer, director and animator. His 1978 short film ''Oh My Darling'' won the Best Short Film award at the 1978 Cannes Film Festival, and his 1984 short film ''Anna & Bella'' won the Best Animated Short Film award at that year's Academy Awards. Personal life and death Børge Ring was the son of composer Oluf Ring. He was born in Ribe, Denmark, and his family later moved to Funen. He had a wife Joanika, who worked as a sculptor, and they had two children. Ring died on 27 December 2018 at the age of 97. Career Early in his career Ring was active as a jazz contrabassoonist and guitarist, performing in several bands. Ring worked on an adaption of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Tinderbox, which was the first Danish animated feature. Børge Brende
Børge Brende (born 25 September 1965) is a Norwegian politician and diplomat, and has been the president of the World Economic Forum since 2017. A member of the Conservative Party, he previously was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2013 to 2017, Minister of the Environment from 2001 to 2004 and Minister of Trade and Industry from 2004 to 2005. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from 1997 to 2009. Børge Christian Jessen (19 June 1907 – 20 March 1993) was a Denmark, Danish mathematician best known for his work in Mathematical analysis, analysis, specifically on the Riemann zeta function, and in geometry, specifically on Hilbert's third problem. Early years Jessen was born on 19 June 1907 in Copenhagen to Hans Jessen and Christine Jessen (née Larsen). He attended Skt. Jørgens Gymnasium, where he was taught by the Hungarian mathematician Julius Pal during his first year. In 1925, Jessen graduated from the gymnasium and enrolled at the University of Copenhagen. During his time at the university he got to know Harald Bohr, then a leading figure in Danish mathematics. Børge Ousland
Børge Ousland (born 31 May 1962) is a Norwegian polar explorer. He was the first person to cross Antarctica solo. He started his career as a Norwegian Navy Special Forces Officer with Marinejegerkommandoen, and he also spent several years working as a deep sea diver for the oil industry in the North Sea. On 4 May 1990 Ousland and Erling Kagge became the first explorers ever to reach the North Pole unsupported, after a 58-day ski trek from Ellesmere Island in Canada, a distance of 800 km. In 1994, he made the first solo and unsupported journey to the North Pole from Arctic Cape in Russia. Between 15 November 1996 and 17 January 1997, he became the first in the world to do an unsupported solo crossing of the Antarctic: 1,864 miles from the edge of the Ronne Ice Shelf to the edge of the Ross Ice Shelf.
