Bønestoppen is a neighbourhood in the city of Bergen, Norway. It is located on the northern shore of the lake Nordåsvannet in the city borough of Fyllingsdalen. The Bønes Church is located here. History The word "Bønes" comes from the word "Bæjarnes", which means "bosted" or "home", hence Bønestoppen means "bostedstoppen", literally "the top of the home". Bønestoppen has historically been part of Bønes farm, whose history goes back to the early 16th century, although the geography of the steep and forested Bønestoppen made it unsuitable for farming. Most of the housing developments in Bønestoppen date to the early 1990s, having been built following the construction of a new road connecting Bønes and Fyllingsdalen. Nordåsvannet or Nordåsvatnet is a bay in Bergen Municipality in central Vestland county, Norway. Located about south of the centre of the city of Bergen, it separates the boroughs of Fana and Ytrebygda from the borough of Fyllingsdalen. Fyllingsdalen
Fyllingsdalen () is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough is located southwest of the city centre in the Fyllingsdalen valley, west of the mountain Løvstakken. The neighbourhoods of Fyllingsdalen mainly consist of fairly large apartment buildings with little industry or commerce. The valley's name comes from the farm name "Fyllingen" (from Old Norse: 'fylingr', related to Old Norse 'fæla' - hide/hidden) and "dale" (from Old Norse: 'dalr' - valley) and is attested in 1437 as "Fylingir" . Bønes Church
Bønes Church ( no, Bønes kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Bønestoppen neighborhood in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Bønes parish which is part of the Bergensdalen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a fan-shaped style in 1997 using designs by the architect Helge Hjertholm. The church seats about 300 people. History The church was built in 1997 and consecrated on 7 December 1997. From 1997 until 2002, the church was an annex to the main Storetveit Church, but since 2002 it has been a separate parish. The church was designed to be built in two stages as the church grew in membership. Løvstakken
Løvstakken is one of the Seven Mountains that surround the center of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The tall mountain is located between the Fyllingsdalen and Bergensdalen valleys on the Bergen Peninsula. Løvstakken and the forests nearby are popular hiking areas among the locals since it is essentially located in the central area of Norway's second largest city. Gullsteinen, a large hill located south of the summit of Løvstakken, is also part of the mountain massif and borders the protected forest area of Langeskogen.
