Börje Fredriksson
Börje Fredriksson (June 30, 1937 – September 21, 1968) was a Swedish jazz tenor saxophonist. Fredriksson was born in Eskilstuna, Sweden. He played at the beginning of the 1960s in a quartet with Bobo Stenson (piano), Palle Danielsson (bass) and Fredrik Norén (drums), as well as in groups with Eje Thelin and Bernt Rosengren. He played with the guitarist Rune Gustafsson in 1961 and with Bosse Broberg's quartet in 1962 at the Golden Circle Jazz Club in Stockholm. He recorded ''Intervall'', (Columbia 1966), together with the posthumous, self-titled ''Börje Fredriksson'', (EMI/Odeon, 1969). In 1968, he took his own life. Fredriksson's sheet music was left in the hands of Bobo Stenson, and in 1994 he, Danielsson and Norén with saxophonist Joakim Milder, recorded an album of Fredriksson's music entitled ''Sister Maj's Blouse''. Bosse Broberg
Bosse Broberg (born September 6, 1937, Ludvika) is a Swedish jazz trumpeter and composer. Broberg learned to play accordion as a child and switched to trumpet aged 14. He studied music at the University of Uppsala and performed there in his own small ensemble in a hard bop idiom. He worked for many years with Gugge Hedrenius beginning in the early 1960s, and was with Arne Domnerus from 1964 to 1968; he also worked with Börje Fredriksson and Jan Johansson. He took leadership of Sveriges Radio's jazz programming in 1966, keeping the position to 1990; he founded the radiojazzgruppen in 1967 and composed and arranged for the orchestra. He played with Red Mitchell from 1971 to 1982 and with the Sandviken Big Band from 1975 to 1985. In the 1980s, he worked with Christer Boustedt and Åke Johansson. Joakim or Joacim is a male given name primarily used in Scandinavian languages and Finnish. It is derived from a transliteration of the Hebrew יהוֹיָקִים, and literally means "lifted by Jehovah". Rune Urban Gustafsson (25 August 1933 – 15 June 2012) was a Swedish jazz guitarist and composer. He performed with Arne Domnérus, Jan Johansson (jazz musician), Jan Johansson, and Zoot Sims among others. Life and career Rune Gustafsson was born in 1933 in Gothenburg. He moved to Stockholm in the 1950s to work with Putte Wickman (Swedisk Jazz Kings, EP, 1957) and Arne Domnérus Radio band and Radio Jazz Group. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Bernt Rosengren
Bernt Rosengren (born 24 December 1937, in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish jazz tenor saxophonist. His recordings earned him five Gyllene Skivan awards in Sweden over more than forty years. Biography Rosengren first played professionally at age 19, as a member of the Jazz Club 57, and two years later in 1959 he played in the Newport Jazz Band. Roman Polanski's film score composer Krzysztof Komeda used Rosengren in the performance of his jazz score for Polanski's film ''Knife in the Water'' (1962). Rosengren recorded a string of highly regarded albums in the 1960s and 1970s, including ''Stockholm Dues'' (1965), ''Improvisations'' (1969), and ''Notes from Underground'' (1974). Eje Thelin (born Eilert Ove Thelin) (June 9, 1938 – May 18, 1990) was a Swedish trombonist. Thelin led his own quintet in 1961. From 1968 to 1972, he was on the faculty of the Music Academy in Graz, Austria. For the rest of the 1970s, he led his own Eje Thelin Group in Sweden.
