Angela Byars-Winston
Angela Michelle Byars-Winston is a professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She was the first African American to achieve the rank of tenured Full Professor of medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She studies the impact of culture on career development, in particular for women and minorities in STEM. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and was one of Barack Obama's Champions of Change. __TOC__ Early life and education Byars-Winston earned her bachelor's (1991) and master's (1992) degree at San Diego State University. Bryan Byars (born October 2, 1991) is an American soccer player who currently plays as goalkeeper. Youth career At Putnam City North High School, Byars was named All-America and All-State his senior year. He was also named All-District from his sophomore year to his senior year. In 2008, Byars was a Gatorade National Player of the Year nominee. He was also named Oklahoma State Player Of The Year as a sophomore. In 2007, as a freshman, he helped lead the Panthers to the state championship game, losing in penalty kicks. During the middle of Byars' senior season the Panthers were the top ranked team in the nation. Byars attended Midwestern State University in 2010 and redshirted his freshman year. In 2011, Byars transferred to University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Dennis Michael Byars (August 23, 1940 – April 14, 2022) was an American politician who was a state senator in the Nebraska Legislature and director of Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation. Personal life Byars was born August 23, 1940, in Beatrice, Nebraska, and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1958 and attended University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He served as a 1st lieutenant in the Nebraska Army National Guard. He has belonged to many groups dealing with people with developmental disabilities and other Gage County, Nebraska, Gage County, and Beatrice organizations. Derrick JaVaughn Byars (born April 25, 1984) is an American professional basketball player and entrepreneur. Collegiately, he played for Virginia, and later for Vanderbilt. He was drafted 42nd overall in the 2007 NBA draft. High school career Byars attended Ridgeway High School in Memphis, where he played for head coach Wesley Henning and won two Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association ( TSSAA) Class AA State Championships. Keith Alan Byars (born October 14, 1963) is an American sports broadcaster and former American football fullback in the National Football League for the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and New York Jets. Early life Byars attended high school at the now-defunct Roth High School in Dayton, Ohio and Trotwood Madison High School, in Trotwood, Ohio. College career Byars was a tailback with the Ohio State Buckeyes from 1982 to 1985, under head coach Earle Bruce. In 1984, Byars finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting (behind Doug Flutie) after a season where he gained an OSU record 2,441 all-purpose yards, including a then-school record 1,764 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns.
