It was issued by Columbia Records as a 10" long-playing record, catalog number CL-6248 and as a 45rpm EP set, B-334. The album was combined with Day's 1951 album, '' On Moonlight Bay,'' on a compact disc, issued on January 30, 2001 by Collectables Records. Doris Day (born Doris Mary Kappelhoff; April 3, 1922 – May 13, 2019) was an American actress, singer, and activist. She began her career as a big band singer in 1939, achieving commercial success in 1945 with two No. 1 recordings, " Sentimental Journey" and "My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time" with Les Brown & His Band of Renown. She left Brown to embark on a solo career and recorded more than 650 songs from 1947 to 1967. Day was one of the biggest film stars of the 1950s–1960s. Day's film career began during the Golden Age of Hollywood with the film ''Romance on the High Seas'' (1948). She starred in films of many genres, including musicals, comedies, dramas, and thrillers. Egbert Van Alstyne
Egbert Anson Van Alstyne (March 4, 1878 – July 9, 1951) was an American songwriter and pianist. Van Alstyne was the composer of a number of popular and ragtime tunes of the early 20th century. Biography Van Alstyne was born in Marengo, Illinois. After some time touring in Vaudeville he moved to New York City, initially working as a Tin Pan Alley song-plugger until he was able to make his living as a songwriter. He teamed with lyricist Harry H. Williams. Annelu Burns
Annelu Burns (November 12, 1889 – July 11, 1942) was an American lyricist and violinist from Selma, Alabama. She wrote lyrics for songs, theater productions, and films. She frequently wrote songs together with Madelyn Sheppard, a musician and composer who was also from Selma. W. C. Handy's Handy Music Co. published their song “O Saroo Saroo", which Reese Du Pree recorded in 1924. Burns also partnered with composer Ernest Ball to produce several popular songs. Later in her life, she worked as a teacher in New York. Life and career Annelu Burns was born in Selma, Alabama, on November 12, 1889. She studied at multiple schools, including Judson College (Alabama), Judson College, Boston Conservatory, Brenau College, and Leopold Auer School. Ernest Ball
Ernest Roland Ball (July 22, 1878 – May 3, 1927) was an American singer and songwriter, most famous for composing the music for the song "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" in 1912. He was not himself Irish. Early life and education Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Ball received formal music training at the Cleveland Conservatory. Career His nascent career was much buoyed by James J. Walker, then a state senator of New York, who asked Ball to write music for some lyrics he wrote. Ball did, and the song "Will You Love Me In December as You Do In May?" became a hit. Walker later became known as "Beau James," mayor of New York City from 1926–32; their collaboration was a fortunate event for Ball's career. Ball accompanied singers, sang in vaudeville and wrote sentimental ballads, mostly with Irish themes. Clifford Grey (5 January 1887 – 25 September 1941) was an English songwriter, librettist, actor and screenwriter. His birth name was Percival Davis, and he was also known as Clifford Gray. Grey contributed prolifically to West End and Broadway shows, as librettist and lyricist for composers including Ivor Novello, Jerome Kern, Howard Talbot, Ivan Caryll and George Gershwin. Nathaniel Davis Ayer (August 5, 1887 – September 19, 1952) was an American composer, pianist, singer and actor. He made most of his career composing and performing in England in Edwardian musical comedy and revue. He also contributed songs to Broadway shows, including some of the ''Ziegfeld Follies''. Ayer's most successful shows were the World War I hits ''The Bing Boys Are Here'' (1916) and '' Yes, Uncle'' (1917). His best-known Broadway song was " Oh, You Beautiful Doll" (1911).
