Francis William Buxton (5 August 1847 – 14 November 1911) was a British barrister and Liberal Party politician. Buxton was the son of Sir Edward Buxton, 2nd Baronet, and the grandson of the anti-slavery campaigner Sir Thomas Buxton, 1st Baronet. His mother was Catherine, daughter of Samuel Gurney, while Sir Thomas Buxton, 3rd Baronet, was his elder brother, Charles Buxton his uncle, Noel Noel-Buxton, 1st Baron Noel-Buxton, his nephew and Sydney Buxton, 1st Earl Buxton, his first cousin. He was born at Colne House, Cromer, Norfolk, and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating B.A. in 1869 before training for the bar at Lincoln's Inn. Michael James Buxton (born 29 May 1943) is a former footballer and football manager in England. He has managed Huddersfield Town, Scunthorpe United and Sunderland. Luther Buxton (October 12, 1822 – August 23, 1897) was an American physician and politician. Born in Danby, Rutland County, Vermont, Buxton graduated from Castleton University and Albany Medical College. Lewis Edward Buxton (born 10 December 1983) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. Buxton began his career with Portsmouth where he progressed through the youth ranks at the club. He gained first team experience with loan spells at Exeter City and AFC Bournemouth. Jeff Buxton is the coach of Lehigh University's post-graduate wrestling program and was the head wrestling coach at Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey from 1982 to 2012. During his tenure at Blair the program became the most successful high school wrestling program in the United States, winning the National Prep team title every one of Coach Buxton's 30 years at Blair and producing wrestlers who have gone on to win 12 individual NCAA crowns and 41 NCAA Division 1 All American places. In 2012, Coach Buxton took the head coaching position at Lehigh University's post-graduate wrestling program, the Lehigh Valley Athletic Club (LVAC). At LVAC, Coach Buxton coaches senior-level wrestlers at U S senior National championships, the Pan American Games and the senior World Championships. Ian Ray Buxton (17 April 1938 – 1 October 2010) was an English footballer and cricketer. He played football as an inside forward for Derby County between 1959 and 1967, before brief spells with Luton Town, Notts County, Port Vale, and non-league Ilkeston Town. He played a total of 215 league games in the English Football League, helping Luton Town to the Fourth Division title in 1967–68, also helping Port Vale to win promotion out of the Fourth Division in 1969–70. Godfrey Buxton
Barclay Godfrey Buxton MC (7 January 1895 –1986) was a casualty of World War I, who compensated for his inability to follow the family tradition of missionary service by founding and running missionary training colleges. Buxton was the son of Reverend Barclay Buxton, a missionary who co-founded the Japan Evangelical Band, and Margaret Maria Amelia Railton. He was the great-grandson of Sir Thomas Buxton, 1st Baronet the abolitionist and social reformer. He was educated at Repton School, and Trinity College, Cambridge.
