Bill Butters
Bill Butters (born January 10, 1951) is an American former professional ice hockey player. He played in the World Hockey Association from 1975 to 1978 and then in the National Hockey League from 1978 to 1979. After his playing career Butters became a coach, serving as an assistant coach for several years with the University of Minnesota and then coaching at the NCAA Division III and high school levels. Life and career Butters was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on January 10, 1951, and played high school hockey at White Bear Lake, Minnesota. He played for the University of Minnesota from 1971–73, coached by Glen Sonmor and Herb Brooks, and he served as team captain in 1972-73. Charles Butters
Charles Butters (August 10, 1854November 27, 1933) was an American metallurgist, engineer and mine owner. A graduate of the University of California, he moved to Southern Africa in 1890 to construct a chlorination plant for Hermann Eckstein & Company. Whilst there Butters pioneered the use of the gold cyanidation process for extracting the metal from low grade ore, which opened up new deposits in Witwatersrand. He also developed other methods that increased extraction efficiency. Butters left Eckstein in 1894 to jointly found a new firm, the Rand Central Ore Reduction Company. He joined the Johannesburg Reform Committee in 1895, a group of mostly immigrants to South Africa who demanded, among other things, a stable constitution, an independent judiciary, and a better educational system; he participated in the Jameson Raid, a botched attempt against the South African Republic, and was fined $2,000. Guy Butters (born 30 October 1969, in Hillingdon) is a former football professional footballer and manager. Playing career Butters made his Tottenham debut in November 1988 in a League Cup tie versus Blackburn Rovers in which he scored an own goal. He made his League debut as a goalscoring substitute that weekend in a 3–2 win against Wimbledon, and then started 34 of the next 35 games before making what would be his final appearance away to Charlton Athletic in October 1989. Sir John Henry Butters, CMG, MBE (23 December 188529 July 1969) was an Australian electrical engineer notable for his role in the Tasmanian Hydro-electric Department from 1914 to 1924, and as the head of the Federal Capital Commission, which developed Canberra between 1925 and 1930. Lily Esther Butters (March 5, 1894 – June 3, 1980) was a Canadian youth disability activist. Biography Butters was born on March 5, 1894 in Newcastle upon Tyne. On August 1, 1914, she married John William Butters. During World War I, John served in the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. After returning in 1918, they had a son James Atkins. On May 20, 1929, they moved to Austin, Quebec to escape poverty in England. The Great Depression and her children serving in World War II caused her health to deteriorate. She enrolled in a nursing a class in Montreal. Butters founded the Cecil Butters Memorial Hospital, or the Butters Centre, in her farmhouse, which cared for mentally disabled children. Thomas Arden Butters (April 8, 1938 – March 31, 2016) was an American professional baseball baseball player, player who spent parts of four seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Pittsburgh Pirates, then had a lengthy career as a college sports administrator at Duke University. Thomas H. Butters, (June 1925 – March 2, 2015) was a politician from Northwest Territories, Canada. He had a long career as a Member of the Northwest Territories Legislature from 1970 until 1991. Butters was first elected to the Northwest Territories Legislature in the 1970 Northwest Territories general election. He won the new electoral district of Western Arctic defeating incumbent Duncan Pryde.
