Butamya Glacier
Butamya Glacier ( bg, ледник Бутамя, lednik Butamya, ) is the 6.9 km long and 2.5 km wide glacier on Barison Peninsula, Graham Coast on the west side of Antarctic Peninsula, situated northwest of Talev Glacier and north-northeast of Chernomen Glacier. It drains northwards, and flows into Beascochea Bay. The glacier is named after the seaside locality of Butamya in Southeastern Bulgaria. Location Butamya Glacier is centred at . Ellsworth Land
Ellsworth Land is a portion of the Antarctic continent bounded on the west by Marie Byrd Land, on the north by Bellingshausen Sea, on the northeast by the base of Antarctic Peninsula, and on the east by the western margin of the Filchner–Ronne Ice Shelf. It extends between 103°24'W and 79°45'W. The area west of 90°W is unclaimed, the area between 84°W and 90°W is claimed by Chile only, and the remainder by Chile and the United Kingdom as a part of the British Antarctic Territory. Eights Coast stretches between 103°24'W and 89°35'W, and Bryan Coast between 89°35'W and 79°45'W. It is largely a high ice plateau, but includes the Ellsworth Mountains and a number of scattered mountain groups: Hudson, Jones, Behrendt, Hauberg, Merrick, Sweeney and Scaife Mountains. Beascochea Bay
Beascochea Bay () is a bay, long and wide, indenting the Graham Coast of Graham Land, Antarctica, between Kyiv Peninsula and Barison Peninsula, and entered south of Cape Perez. The glaciers Lever, Funk, Cadman, Talev and Butamya feed the bay. It was discovered but incompletely defined by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition, 1897–99; was resighted by the French Antarctic Expedition, 1903–05, and named by Jean-Baptiste Charcot for Commander Beascochea, Argentine Navy. Barison Peninsula
Barison Peninsula is the mostly ice-covered peninsula projecting 19 km in northwest direction from Graham Coast in Graham Land, Antarctica. It is 12 km wide between Beascochea Bay to the northeast and Leroux Bay to the southwest. The area was possibly visited by the 1897–99 Belgian expedition under Adrien de Gerlache and the 1903–05 French expedition under Jean Charcot. Antarctic Peninsula
The Antarctic Peninsula, known as O'Higgins Land in Chile and Tierra de San Martín in Argentina, and originally as Graham Land in the United Kingdom and the Palmer Peninsula in the United States, is the northernmost part of mainland Antarctica. The Antarctic Peninsula is part of the larger peninsula of West Antarctica, protruding from a line between Cape Adams (Weddell Sea) and a point on the mainland south of the Eklund Islands. Chernomen Glacier ( bg, ледник Черномен, lednik Chernomen, ) is the long and wide glacier on Barison Peninsula, Graham Coast on the west side of Antarctic Peninsula, situated south-southwest of Butamya Glacier and west-southwest of Talev Glacier. List Of Glaciers In The Antarctic
There are many glaciers in the Antarctic. This set of lists does not include ice sheets, ice caps or ice fields, such as the Antarctic ice sheet, but includes glacial features that are defined by their flow, rather than general bodies of ice. The lists include outlet glaciers, valley glaciers, cirque glaciers, tidewater glaciers and ice streams. Ice streams are a type of glacier and many of them have "glacier" in their name, e.g. Pine Island Glacier. Ice shelves are listed separately in the List of Antarctic ice shelves. For the purposes of these lists, the Antarctic is defined as any latitude further south than 60° (the continental limit according to the Antarctic Treaty System). Antarctic Place-names Commission
The Antarctic Place-names Commission was established by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute in 1994, and since 2001 has been a body affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria.
