''Burnt'' is a 2015 American comedy-drama film directed by John Wells and written by Steven Knight, from a story by Michael Kalesniko. The film stars an ensemble cast including Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Omar Sy, Daniel Brühl, Matthew Rhys, Riccardo Scamarcio, Alicia Vikander, Uma Thurman and Emma Thompson. The film was released on October 30, 2015, by The Weinstein Company. The film was not well received by critics and grossed $36.6 million. John Wells (filmmaker)
John Marcum Wells (born May 28, 1956) is an American theater, film, and television writer, director, and producer. He is best known for his role as showrunner and executive producer of the television series '' ER'', ''Third Watch'', ''The West Wing'', ''Southland'', '' Shameless'', '' Animal Kingdom'', and ''American Woman''. His company, John Wells Productions, is currently based at Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California. Wells is also a labor leader, having served as president of the Writers Guild of America, West from 1999 to 2001 and from 2009 to 2011.
