''Burnistoun'' is a Scottish comedy sketch show broadcast by BBC Scotland, written by the comedians Iain Connell and Robert Florence. The show was produced by The Comedy Unit. The series is set in a fictional Scottish town called Burnistoun in the greater Glasgow area. Robert Florence
Robert Luke McBrian Florence (born 29 July 1977) is a Scottish presenter, comedian and writer who starred in the BBC comedy sketch show ''Burnistoun''. Early life Robert Florence was born on 29 July 1977 and was raised in a working-class family in Balornock, Glasgow. His father and brothers are roofers. He and future writing collaborator Iain Connell met as a pair of fifteen-year-olds at a Springburn amateur youth theatre project, Toonspeak. His sole stage appearance was at a stand-up comedy night in Petershill, Springburn, for which he dressed up as David Bowie. Florence spent a year on a film and television studies course at Cardonald College. Richard Rankin
Richard Rankin (born Richard Harris on 4 January 1983) is a Scottish film, television and theatre actor. He is best known for the Scottish sketch show ''Burnistoun'' and as Roger Wakefield MacKenzie in the Starz drama '' Outlander''. Early life Richard Rankin was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1983 and spent part of his childhood in the East End of the city. He moved to King's Park when he was ten, eventually attending Stonelaw High School. One of four boys born to a father on the police force and a mother in the hotel industry, he originally planned a career in the sciences or Information Technology. Rankin initially attended Glasgow Caledonian University as an IT major, but changed course after a chance encounter at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel during a holiday in Los Angeles. Kirsty Strain is a Scottish actress, best known for her roles in the popular comedy sketch series, ''Burnistoun'', and as Angie Warren in the BBC Scotland television series, ''River City''. In December 2016, she was a supporting actress to several acting pieces by St. Paul's High School, at the Tramway Theatre in Glasgow. BBC Scotland (also referred to as the BBC Scotland channel) is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel that is under the BBC Scotland division of the BBC. ''Empty'' is a six-episode BBC Two sitcom first broadcast on 28 February 2008. It stars Gregor Fisher and Billy Boyd as Jacky Allen and Tony MacBryan respectively, two men who work for a property maintenance company 'Greater Glasgow Building Services'. The Comedy Unit
The Comedy Unit or known sometimes as just Comedy Unit is a Scottish company that produces sitcoms, comedy sketches, live shows and other comedy productions. It began life as an in-house BBC department in 1983 under the auspices of Producer Colin Gilbert and became an independent production company in 1996 when Gilbert and business manager April Chamberlain left the BBC. By 2001 they had an annual turnover of £2million a core staff of 12 employees. They have produced radio and television shows that were aired on BBC Scotland and BBC Radio Scotland. It was bought by London-based RDF Media Group in 2006 which in turn was acquired by Paris-based Zodiak Entertainment Group in 2010. Over The Wall (band)
Over The Wall was a pop-rock-folk band based in Glasgow, Scotland. The outfit consisted of multi-instrumentalists Ben Hillman and Gavin Prentice, a line-up which remained unaltered after its 2006 formation. Formation and musical style Prentice and Hillman met in student halls as freshers at the University of Glasgow, and soon began running a regular music evening at the Stereo bar (now a vegetarian cafe called The 78), on Kelvinhaugh Street in the West End. Having initially performed individually at these events, the pair soon began collaborating as a duo and quickly found an idiosyncratic-yet-natural niche: euphoric, folk-tinged pop music. Happy hardcore, also known as 4-beat or happycore, is a subgenre of hardcore dance music or "hard dance".
