''Burglars'' (german: Einbrecher) is a 1930 German musical film, musical comedy film directed by Hanns Schwarz and starring Ralph Arthur Roberts, Lilian Harvey, Willy Fritsch, and Heinz Rühmann. It is also known in English by the alternative title ''Murder For Sale''. It is based on the French play "Guignol le cambrioleur" by Louis Verneuil, who co-wrote the screenplay. A French language, French-Foreign-language version, language version, titled ''Caught in the Act (1931 film), Caught in the Act'', was filmed at the same time.Film notes to Black Hill Picture's DVD release of the film The film was intended by the studio Universum Film AG, UFA as a follow-up to the hit musical ''The Three from the Filling Station (1930 film), The Three from the Filling Station''. Hanns Schwarz
Hanns Schwarz (11 February 1888 – 27 October 1945) was an Austrian Empire, Austrian film director. He was born in Vienna on 11 February 1888. Biography He directed twenty four films between 1924 and 1937 in both English-language, English and German-language, German. During the late silent film, silent and early sound era, sound eras, he was a leading director at the large German studio Universum Film AG, UFA. In the early 1930s he worked on several Multiple-language version, multi-language version films for UFA, producing the same films in distinct German and foreign-language versions. Schwarz was Jewish and was therefore forced to leave Germany in 1933 when the Nazis took over, going into exile in Britain. His last film was the 1937 British thriller ''Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel''. He died in California on 27 October 1945. Oskar Sima
Oskar Sima (31 July 1896 – 24 June 1969) was an Austrian actor who is best remembered for appearing in supporting roles in countless comedy films from the 1930s to the 1960s. Born in Hohenau an der March, Lower Austria, Sima attended high school in Vienna. After a brief tour in the army during World War I, he began acting in various theatrical productions in Berlin, Vienna, and other cities in Central Europe. He began his film career in 1921, and appeared in a number of German silent films early on. Sima was frequently cast as the comic villain whose machinations get everyone into trouble, although often his villainous stature was used to more chilling effect. In 1929, Sima married actress Lina Woiwode. The couple remained married until Sima's death. Along with Friedl Czepa, Fred Hennings and Leni Riefenstahl he was identified as being an active supporter of the Nazi Party.
