Albert Burge
Albert Bentley "Son" Burge (4 June 1889 – 4 January 1943) was an Australian rugby union lock who played with the Souths rugby union club in Sydney and at the age of nineteen was selected for the Australian national team in two Tests against New Zealand in 1907. Rugby union career He made the Wallaby tour of Great Britain of 1908, called up as a squad replacement for his brother Peter who broke his leg. Alby appeared in a Test match against Wales. He was sent off for kicking in that match and did not make another rugby international appearance. Despite his sending off, Burge continued to be selected for the invitational matches against club opposition during the tour. Two weeks after the Wales match, Burge was part of the Australian team that faced Cardiff, and was again sent from the pitch by referee Gil Evans after 'brutally' kicking Dai Westacott while the player was prone on the ground. Early life Prior to starting high school, the Burge family moved to Palos Verdes Estates, California so that the sisters could attend Palos Verdes High School. Kermon Lester Burge (May 17, 1917 – March 1, 1996) was a minor league baseball first baseman and manager whose career spanned from the 1930s to the 1950s. He began his career in 1938, playing for the Class-D New Bern Bears of the Coastal Plain League. He hit .348 with 98 hits, 21 doubles, 22 home runs and a .699 slugging percentage that year, leading the league in slugging percentage and finishing second, behind Bennie Rothstein, in home runs. He split 1939 between the Class-B Savannah Indians of the South Atlantic League and the Class-A1 Atlanta Crackers of the Southern Association, hitting a combined .286 with 14 home runs and 10 triples in 144 games. He returned to Atlanta again in 1940, hitting .277 with 12 home runs and 82 hits in 88 games. Lee Stephen Burge (born 9 January 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for EFL League One club Northampton Town. Laidley Burge
Laidley Burge (1896–1990) was a rugby league footballer in New South Wales during the 1910s and 1920s. Playing career Burge played seven seasons and 64 first grade games for the Glebe (rugby league team), Glebe Dirty Reds between 1916 and 1922, many of them alongside his brother Frank Burge. He and Frank formed a front-row partnership in the Glebe side that contested the New South Wales Rugby Football League season 1922#Grand final, 1922 NSWRL Grand final against North Sydney which Glebe lost 35-3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He retired from rugby league after that game. Death Burge died on 17 September 1990, age 93 at his home at Gold Coast, Queensland and was the last of the famous Burge brothers to die. Jon Graham Burge (December 20, 1947 – September 19, 2018) was an American police detective and commander in the Chicago Police Department who was found guilty of having "directly participated in or implicitly approved the torture" of at least 118 people in police custody in order to force false confessions. A United States Army veteran, Burge had served tours in South Korea and Vietnam. When he returned to the South Side of Chicago, he began a career as a city police officer, ending it as a commander. Following the shooting of several Chicago law enforcement officers in 1982, the police obtained confessions that contributed to convictions of two people. One filed a civil suit in 1989 against Burge, other officers, and the city, for police torture and cover-up; Burge was acquitted in 1989 because of a hung jury.
