Les Burge
Kermon Lester Burge (May 17, 1917 – March 1, 1996) was a minor league baseball first baseman and manager whose career spanned from the 1930s to the 1950s. He began his career in 1938, playing for the Class-D New Bern Bears of the Coastal Plain League. He hit .348 with 98 hits, 21 doubles, 22 home runs and a .699 slugging percentage that year, leading the league in slugging percentage and finishing second, behind Bennie Rothstein, in home runs. He split 1939 between the Class-B Savannah Indians of the South Atlantic League and the Class-A1 Atlanta Crackers of the Southern Association, hitting a combined .286 with 14 home runs and 10 triples in 144 games. He returned to Atlanta again in 1940, hitting .277 with 12 home runs and 82 hits in 88 games. Once more with the Crackers in 1941, Burge batted .311 with 163 hits, 38 home runs, 146 RBI, 331 total bases and a .632 slugging percentage. Stokes County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 44,520. Its county seat is Danbury. Stokes County is included in the Winston-Salem, N.C., Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Greensboro-Winston-Salem- High Point, N.C., Combined Statistical Area. Carolina League
The Carolina League is a Minor League Baseball league which has operated along the Atlantic Coast of the United States since 1945. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as the Low-A East before reassuming its original moniker in 2022. Jimmy Adair
James Aubrey Adair (January 25, 1907 – December 9, 1982) was an American baseball infielder, manager and coach. Although he played only briefly in Major League Baseball, as a shortstop for the Chicago Cubs, Adair had a long career as a minor league player and manager, and as a Major League coach and scout. A native of Waxahachie, Texas, he was associated for many years with a fellow townsman, Paul Richards, who as a manager or general manager employed Adair as a coach for three MLB teams. Playing career Adair attended East Texas Baptist University and Marshall University. He batted and threw right-handed, and stood 5'10½" (179 cm) tall and weighed 155 pounds (70 kg). Texas League
The Texas League is a Minor League Baseball league which has operated in the South Central United States since 1902. It is classified as a Double-A league. Despite the league's name, only its five South Division teams are actually based in the state of Texas; the five North Division teams are located in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The league was founded in 1888 and ran through 1892. It was called the Texas Association in 1895, the Texas-Southern League in 1896, and again as the Texas League from 1897 to 1899. Fort Worth Cats (Texas League)
The Fort Worth Cats (originally the Fort Worth Panthers) were a minor league baseball team that mostly played in the Texas League from 1888 through 1964. They were affiliated with the Indianapolis Indians in 1933, the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1946 to 1956, and the Chicago Cubs from 1957 to 1958. The team joined the American Association in 1959 and then merged with the Dallas Rangers in 1959 to become the Dallas-Fort Worth Rangers.
