Burchard of Mount Sion (, also misnamed ''Brocard'' or ''Bocard''; fl. late 13th century), was a German priest, Dominican friar, pilgrim and author probably from Magdeburg in northern Germany, who travelled to the Middle East at the end of the 13th century. There he wrote his book called: ''Descriptio Terrae Sanctae'' or "Description of the Holy Land" which is considered to be of "extraordinary importance". ''Descriptio Terrae Sanctae'' It is the most detailed account of the Holy Land from the thirteenth century. It is described as having belonged to a class of its own among medieval descriptions of the Holy Land. Approximately 100 medieval and early modern manuscripts are known today, some of which include maps and diagrams. The long version, unlike the short version, contains additional descriptions that illustrate Burchard's journey from Europe to the Holy Land and back. Bernhard Borchert (1 December 1863, Riga – 1945) was a Baltic-German painter who spent the greatest part of his life in Latvia. Leo Borchard
Lew Ljewitsch "Leo" Borchard (31 March 1899 – 23 August 1945) was a German-Russian conductor and briefly musical director of the Berlin Philharmonic. Biography Borchard was born in Moscow to German parents, and grew up in Saint Petersburg where he received a solid musical education, as well being a regular visitor to the Stanislavsky Theatre. In 1920, after the Russian Revolution, he emigrated to Germany. Otto Klemperer engaged him as his assistant at the Kroll Opera in Berlin (Klemperer, lacking confidence in his own abilities, expected Borchard to critique his conducting technique). He conducted the Berlin Philharmonic for the first time in January 1933. In 1935, he was banned by the Nazi regime as politically unreliable. Joseph Edward Borchard (born November 25, 1978) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder. Borchard was the 12th pick of the first round in the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft out of Stanford University by the Chicago White Sox. In high school, he won a division III state football championship at Adolfo Camarillo High School as the starting quarterback. He also played quarterback for Stanford and took a $5.3 million signing bonus to play for the White Sox. Ian Alfred Borchard (born 5 August 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1970s. He also played for West Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Playing career VFL Borchard, originally from Swan Hill in Victoria, spent three seasons at Richmond. He was a leading advocate of innocence reform and compensation for victims of wrongful conviction as well as the use of declaratory judgments. August Borchard (4 July 1864, Lemgo – 19 February 1940, Berlin) was a German physician and surgeon. He studied medicine at the Universities of Freiburg, Munich, Würzburg and Jena, receiving his doctorate at the latter institution in 1888 with a thesis on carcinomas of the antrum of Highmore, ''Ueber Carcinome der Highmorshöhle''. Afterwards, he worked as an assistant in the pathological institute at Marburg and as a physician in the surgical clinic at the University of Königsberg.
