Bundit Singprakarn
Bundit Singprakarn ( th, บรรดิษฐ์ สิงห์ปราการ); is a Thai Muay Thai fighter who competed in the 1970s. Biography and career Bundit started to train at home with his father and was competing by the age of 15. He struggled in his first attempts in Bangkok where he was dismissed during two fights. Bundit started to have success in the stadiums in 1971 withg a his strong middle kick style. A year later he won the Lumpinee Stadium 126 lbs title on December 8, 1972, against Denthoranee Muangsurin, he scored two knockdowns to win the belt by unanimous decision. He successfully defended his title and kept it until 1977 when he was dismissed during a fight against Sagat Pontawee. During the 1970s Bundit defeated many champions of his era such as Sirimongkol Luksiripat, Ruengsak Porntawee, Vicharnnoi Porntawee, Khunponnoi Kiatsuriya or Jocky Sitkanpai. Rajadamnern Stadium
Rajadamnern Stadium ( th, สนามมวยราชดำเนิน; ), also spelled ''Ratchadamnoen'', is a sporting arena in Bangkok, Thailand. Along with Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Rajadamnern is one of the two main stadiums for modern muay Thai. It hosts fights every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. The stadium has its own ranking system and championship titles up to middleweight (160 lbs). History In 1941, the prime minister of Thailand, Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram, gave orders to build a national boxing stadium on Rajadamnern Avenue. Impresse Italiane All' Estero-Oriente won the construction rights, and the 258,900 baht project foundation stone was laid on 1 March 1941. Due to the lack of construction supplies during the World War II, the project was halted until August 1945. When construction resumed, it took only four months to complete it. This is a list of highly notable Muay Thai practitioners (also known as nak muay). Legend * Nai Khanomtom (circa 1700s) - a legendary Thai soldier and boxer during the era of the Ayutthaya Kingdom who become known as the founder of Muay Thai. Khanomtom lived during the Second Burmese War (1765–1767). At that time, the Ayutthaya Kingdom was losing its long-running conflict with the Konbaung dynasty. In 1767, the capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom fell, and Khanomtom was one of the warriors who were captured and sent as a captive to the King of Burma. After seven years of captivity, King Mangra wanted to see how Thai fighters would compare to his fighters. Khanomtom was selected to fight against the King's chosen champion and the boxing ring was set up in front of the throne. The Rajamangala National Stadium ( th, ราชมังคลากีฬาสถาน; , ) is the national stadium of Thailand. It is part of the Hua Mak Sports Complex, and is located in Hua Mak Subdistrict, Bang Kapi, Bangkok. Pudpadnoi Worawut ( th, ผุดผาดน้อย วรวุฒิ) is a Thai Muay Thai fighter who competed in the 1970s. He is recognized as one of the greatest Muay Thai fighters of all time. Biography and career Ponn Ommklin started Muay Thai at the age of 14 in his native province of Khon Kaen, following the steps of his older brother. His parents wouldn't let him pursue Muay Thai full time before graduating high school which he did in 1969. During that period Pudpanoi competed in Isan over 60 times and went undefeated. At the age of 18 he went to Bangkok on the advice of a fighter from the Worawut camp, at this occasion Pudpadnoi used his famous ring name for the first time as he won his debut in Rajadamnern Stadium by high kick knockout. Nakhon Pathom ( th, นครปฐม, ) is a city (''thesaban nakhon'') in central Thailand, the former capital of Nakhon Pathom province. One of the most important landmarks is the giant Phra Pathommachedi. Poot Lorlek ( th, พุฒ ล้อเหล็ก; born Taweesak Pipatkul; January 1, 1952 – June 1, 2020) was a Thai Muay Thai kickboxer and professional boxer who competed in the 1970s. He is recognized as one of the greatest Muay Thai kickboxers of all time. Career Lorlek born in Palian District, Trang Province in southern Thailand. He first practiced Muay Thai at the age of 15 from a Muay Thai gym in his native province. Jitti Muangkhonkaen ( th, จิตติ เมืองขอนแก่น); also known as Jitti Kiatsuriya (จิตติ เกียรติสุริยา) is a Thai former Muay Thai fighter. Biography and career Jitti started Muay Thai training at the age of 13 in Khon Kaen. By the time he was 18 he had made name for himself fighting in Bangkok. Between 1975 and 1981 Jitti was considered one of the best fighters in Thailand.
